Thank you for those who answered my question "Is there anyone out there?" As to the reply which asked me to stick to the proper formatt, I feel that my question wasn't flippant. I very rarely get any posts from the list. Why post anything serious if no one is listening and I was hardly going to clog the system. My apologies if I offended anyone that was neither my intent nor my nature. On to my dilemma.... Dear BRADLEY and other variant surname researchers: Presume most of you are BRADLEY researchers - but I joined this because of the BRADSHAW connection. I have a Sherrod/Sherard BRADSHAW, b c1790/1800 at ?, d 1844 in Sevier Co, AR. He married Frances (ROBERTSON/ROBINSON) McCOWN (widow of Francis McCOWN) in about 1825-1827. Their two children, born in Sevier Co, AR, were: 1. Jacob BRADSHAW married to Berthenia SMOOT 2. Berthenia BRADSHAW married to George S. TURRENTINE There was a Sherod BRADSHAW in Union Co, IL in 1823, and I presume this was the same man as listed above. He was listed in Union Co, IL with a John BRADSHAW. But - I don't have any proof of this - and would appreciate any information on these BRADSHAW's that anyone might have to help me out. I do have information from Jacob BRADSHAW to the present time, and some information on Berthenia BRADSHAW TURRENTINE, should anyone be interested. Will be happy to share what I have. -- [ From: Margie East Phelps * EMC.Ver #2.5.3 ] -- I signed on as if there was and ever so often, like you today I get a message, but nothing like when it was when the maiser list was active. I also have Bradley, bunches of Bradleys. My line is Terry Thomas Bradley (spouse-Mary Keeling), then Leonard Keeling Bradley and so on. Terry was from Ireland, Leonard and family went to Missouri, from NC (if I remember right), don't have my data in front of me. I AM TRYING TO GET ORGANIZED> If I am not mistaken I also have Graves, yes I do. Most;y 1600, acouple of 1700 and 1800's and one or two 1900., VA, TX and England. Anything there? Maybe we can get something going on the Bradley's, they ar one of my favorites to research, maybe because they have been so easy .. Margie East Phelps in TX PS I am also on AOL, but prefer Prodigy TTXM40A@prodigy.com or NolifeMarg@aol.com if you prefer. Have you met Pete (prpete) Holste on AOL, who is also a Bradley (also Boone) reseacher?

Well, there is at least me...I wished I knew all the ansewers. I think that there are about 10 list that I belong to are all on vacation, not sure. My Grandparents are from Wilkes County, N.C. 1787-1944. I have very ,,,very...good records on them. John who married Rachel Widom, John Who married Lucinda,(Cannot prove yet but close), William who marrried Jane Ferguson, John J. F. who married Kurturna Maltba, and my Netta Kate who died in Catawba county N. C. 1944. John(1) is suggested to be the son of Richard Bradley of Orange Co.His brothers were Laurance, William, James. Just in case I am boring you I will not continue but if you want someone to write I would also like it...I cannot put those early familys together either. When you have three brothers ,,9 months apart, that marry 9 months apart, and have the same naming pattern...welll...I have thought many times about just picking out the best line and claiming it,,,of course there is the famious dart board method, we also could put the names in a hat and draw..<smile>, I really wish (I started to say old researcher could give clues) but I am no spring chicken) so I will redo that, experience Bradley searchers could help us out a bit...I do not want to write any books etc but I sure would buy some if you folks could tell us about them... Thanks Pat Graves Reagan

This was sent to me by Steve Freeman and I thought it would be of interest to anyone connected to this line. I couldn't understand why Mary Rhodes, daughter of a prominent landowner would marry the son of a convict, well beneath her. This offers an explanation. << This is extracted from the Parish Register of Christ Church, Middlesex County, VA 1653-1812: Mary Rhodes was born the 5th of January 1684. Mary Rhodes ye Daughter Ezehias & Eliza Rhodes was baptz 15th ffebry 1684/5. Mary and illegitimate Ye Daughter of Mary Rhodes was Baptized Ye Same Day (January 9th) Anno Domini 1708/9 John Bradley & Mary Rhodes (were married) 2nd of November 1711 Ezekiah & Wm being twin sons of Jno and Mary Bradley were all baptized 21st day of September 1712 Elizabeth daughter of John & Mary Bradley born MAy 18th, baptized June 5, 1715 John son of John & Mary Bradley born Octo 28, baptized Decemr ye 7, 1718 Robert son of John & Mary Bradley, born Janry ye 21,baptized Febry 18, 1721 Anne daughter of John & Mary Bradley born July ye 5, baptized Aug 8, 1725 Mary Bradley dyed March ye 15, 1727 John Bradley & Rebecca Jemson Married August ye 24, 1728 James son of John & Rebecca Bradley born Decemr ye 6, baptized Dec mr 21, 1729 Mary daughter of John & Rebecca Bradley born September ye 11, baptized Octo ye 1, 1732 So it would seem that Mary had an illegitimate child, making her a less attractive bride for the planters' sons of the area. Therefore her marrying into a "lower class" family isn't surprising. Hezekiah Rhodes was indeed a large landowner of Middlesex County, VA. For historical perspective, turn to "A Place in Time: Middlesex County Virginia 1650-1750," by Darrett and Anita Rutman. By carefully examining local records, they have created a remarkable social history for the county, and at a larger level, colonial America. >> I hope some of you are jumping for joy! The Bradleys seem to be a very quiet bunch of people unlike the Walkers on their list. I have a hard time just reading the volume of mail they generate e very day. Do you all have your lines worked out? Have you found interesting wills or deeds, census records, anything that you would like to share and get this list activated. I am not just a names and dates person, trying to end up with the largest data base. I don't see the point in that unless it's for religious reasons. I would like to know more about the human side of this family. What made them tick? Are there are little tidbits of information that would animate this family. Surely there must have been some that made their mark in history even if it was in a small way. Can't some of you older Bradleys remember stories told to you as a child. Dust off the cobwebs and let's hear them. Am I being too loud? I guess it's because my husband is the Bradley descendant, not me!! Philippa

Looking for any information about Arthur W. Bradley. He appears in the 1874-1875 City Directory of Auburn NY. In 1874 he is boarding at the home of Silas L. Bradley, a prominent citizen and local bank president. Arthur's occupation is a manager of a religious book publishing co, called Bradley & Garretson. In 1875 he is still in the book publishing business, but has relocated, and boards at 14 Garden. I think that he is probably related to Silas L. Bradley. Silas was born in North Haven, Conn, in 1817, and had at least 2 brother: George, and Henry Mervin/Melvin. Their parents were Solomon Bradley and Laura Jacobs. Any info would be appreciated! Many thanks - Karen Bradley Pettigrew

Dear Matt, I like you sent out a message for Brayshaw on the Bradley message line. Mine went nowhere fast. It starts with three brothers Joseph, Robert, & William The only info I have on Robert is :see 1830 census. I have no idea what my cousin meant and I'm having some trouble contacting her again. At this time do not know enough about my BRADSHAW ancestors from Upper Canada (Ontario) to ask good questions to this group. And I am not sure if anyone else, besides the ones that contacted me, would know anything about Mary Catherine Bradshaw (from Madoc, Hasting Co.), the wife of Moses Doan born in East Williams, Middlesex Co.and then removed to Mooretown and Sombra of Lampton Co. in Canada. So before I say good by to this list until I discover more through other contacts, I would like to ask this group a few questions to guide my further research. What are the possible origins of the surname of BRADSHAW? From where did familys with the surname BRADSHAW move from before heading to Canada? Are there any other desendants of the surname BRADSHAW from Canada with this group (besides the two that contacted me)? Any other research tips and leads with this surname besides the typical ones with any genealogical search? Is there a web site with BRADSHAW family information? Thank you very much. I'll most likely re-subscribe in a few months. Matt Carman
I need to find Mary Bradley born 31 Dec 1846, married about 1865 to Henry Harrison Shaffer. Possibly died in OK. I know absolutely nothing about her except this. I know everyone has a Mary in their Bradley file, but perhaps someone also has a Shaffer???? It's worth a try. Thanks -- Maria Maria Choate Gage, OK 2 hrs from the nearest open LDS!
Hello, I just subscribe to this list in the hopes of finding other researching the BRADSHAW family of Madoc, Ontario, Canada. Mary Catherine Bradshaw married Mose Doan of Lambton Co. Ontario, Canada. Dear fellow Bradley researchers: Do any of you know the date (between 1779 and 1784, I think) and place (Warren Co., KY perhaps, or maybe someplace else in KY or in NC or SC) where Mary HOGAN BRADLEY (wife of Cornelius BRADLEY) was scalped and left for dead and her five young sons (David, Robert, Ewan, Alexander, and Dunn) were killed? Any one know what tribe of Native Americans was involved? Thanks, Emily Moore
Would like to find Francina BRADSHAW's family. She was born ca Dec 1742 and maried Samuel MARRS possibly in YORK, PA. She had brothers John, James and Christopher.
