    3. To All List Members, Rootsweb has finished the project of putting all past messages sent to the list into a searchable archive. The older messages from Maiser at Indiana University are also included. You can search the archives on the majority of the surname lists at: http://users.aol.com/johnf14246/gen_mail.html It is really great. For example a state, county, first name, wife's maiden name, etc., (limited only by your imagination) can be searched within the archives for that particular list. I've tested the search system and it is easy to use. The URL for the searchable RootsWeb archive is: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl Have fun. Please direct all comments and questions concerning the searchable archive site to my email address: myoung@icok.net Happy Huntin' Jim Young

    1. BRADLEY's in Wisconsin
    2. Hi, I have no where near the research in my Bradley line as some of you do. I was wondering if anyone had any Bradleys in Wisconsin. My g-grandfather's name is Roy Grant Bradley. Born June 24, 1904 in Milwaukee. I don't know what his father's name was, but I do know that all the males in the family had the middle name of Grant. His mother's name was Inez Stover. My g-grandfather is still alive and won't really talk about his family, so I'm kind of at a dead end right now. I don't think that WI had a 1900 census, and the only one I could find at the FHC was 1850, which I think is too early. Thanks

    3. Dear "Beadley Researchers!" I did not just disappear! While I was in Tennessee, my e-mail provider's server simply filled up and would not accept any more mail for me. I received mail up until 26 November, but nothing after that until I returned yesterday and pulled my mail from the server. I had 83 letters in a full mail box! I am sorry about any problems that this may have caused and apologize! I hope none of you dropped me from your mailing lists. I am corresponding with about 40 other researchers and missed about 10 days of mail; so I have a lot of apologies to send. I probably missed a lot of good mail, too! Thanks for your understanding and I hope that everyone had a "Great Thanksgiving!" Take care! Jim

    3. I had deleted this message and as it went, I saw Oliver BRADLEY fly past. There probably is no connection, but I have an Oliver BRADLEY who was in the Fredericton, NB, CAN area about 1820. I've always thought there was a possibility that he was a member of a Loyalist family. I can't give even an approximate date of birth for him, only that his daughter Caroline was born about 1825 in Fredericton, NB, CAN. I'm so happy to have seen your message; I've never thought to look for BROADLEY. If you ever run across this name in CAN, please keep me in mind. "Commonly called the Commission to the Five Civilized Tribes, the Dawes Commission was appointed by President Grover Cleveland in 1893 to negotiate with the Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw and Seminole tribes. In return for abolishing their tribal governments and recognizing state and federal laws, tribe members were allotted a share of common property. Heads of families, orphans, and children could receive 40 to 160 acres of land by proving their tribal membership. This series contains the original applications for tribal enrollments under the act of June 28, 1898, as well as supporting documents such as birth and death affidavits, marriage licenses, transcripts of testimony taken by the Commission, correspondence relating to the status of the application, and decisions and orders of the Commission."
