    1. [BRADLEY-L] Sunday Greetings
    2. Jim & Mary Pat Young
    3. Good morning family, A big welcome to our new Bradley family members who have recently joined us! We are very glad to have you with us and hope you'll stay and remain a part of our online family. As soon as you're comfortable with us and the list, please send in your ancestor's lines so we can all see how we're related to you. We all share the same goals of wanting to find our families. Sometimes do you get so tired and frustrated from years and years of searching for your ancestor. Have you spent the last 1, 5, 10 or 20 years looking for your ancestor and are no closer now than when you started the search? We've sent the same query with the same questions to several historical societies and continually get the same negative answers. We've looked in census, probate, cemetery, military, Bible and church records to no avail. An additional source we have is each other. How many of us have small libraries at home that might have the answers one of the Bradley family needs? Have you checked yours at home for anything that might help the family? We need to continue posting those hidden records. Please, don't stop. That one little record, that one little paragraph, that one little scrap of information you shoved in a box under the stack of books, that certificate you received that wasn't yours after all, all those census extractions and cemeteries you read -- we need to dig all that material out and put it on the list. We came together to get answers and break down our brick walls. But, as the saying goes, "When you give, you receive." It's a principle that has never failed. Helping someone work out their lines might just uncover the fact that you're both cousins! Working together and sharing brings each of us a step closer to the big link we have waited for. Each of us on this list could be that lost link. Posting everything we know about our families is the only way our new members will know who we're looking for. So, what do you say family? Let's all get busy and start posting and talking again? After all, isn't finding our lines what brought us all together in the first place and gave us all this reason for sharing, for caring? Thanks everyone for making this such a great list! Without you, it wouldn't be. Warm regards, Jim Young List Moderator and RootsWeb Donor

    2. I am interested in any information regarding the families of Samuel and William BRADLEY, Yorkshiremen who settled in Wheeling, (W)VA, in about 1838, where they operated a woolen mill. Samuel married Catherine. Their children, James (1838) Sarah (1840) Harriett (1843) William (1845) and Ellen (1848) were born in Virginia. William (1812-1858) married Elizabeth. Their children, Thomas aka Lee (1839-1863) Mary (1841, m John Reid) Martha (1843) Alice (1845 m John Eckhardt) Samuel (1848-1869) Albert (1850 m Emily Carter) Edward (1852) and William (1858) were born in Wheeling, (W) Virginia. Samuel and William were brothers and probably the sons of James. Their wives, Catherine and Elizabeth, were from Pennsylvania. If any of the people profiled here sound familiar to anyone out there, I'd love to hear from you. S B Thoman (S6B7T6@aol.com)

    2. Searching for John Bradley. I had put that he was the son of John and Mary Rhodes Bradley. Apparently he is not. Now I need to find out who his parents were. My John died 25 Jun 1778 in Tryon County NC as the result of a fall from the roof of Andrew Hampton during an eclipse of the sun. I have a copy of this and his will which names his children. My ancestor was his daughter Sarah who married Elias Morgan. I do not know who the first wife was (think she was an Indian). His second wife was Mary Ledbetter. If anyone knows anything on this John I would like to hear from you. Barbara

    2. Barbara Sevier
    3. Hi: I would truly appreciate anyone who might have information about the following Bradley: According to the 1850 Phelps Co., MO census, William Arthur Bradley was born in NC about 1814. In 1837 he married Susan Kitchen in MO; they had 8 children according to Susan's obituary in 1899. John b about 1838 --- may have had issue; he served in the Civil War died probably in the 1870s. James b about 1840 --- Died in the Confederate Army Anthony b About 1841 No information George b About 1843 Served in the Civil War Nancy Jane b 1844, d 1895 -- married Foust, Majors, then Jackson. My g grandmother. Margaret Frances b 1849, d 1877 -- Married James Marsh William Jr. --- b 1852, d 1932. I'm not aware of any issue. He was married twice; is buried in Weber Cemetery in Dent Co., MO.. And one child that is not yet identified. There is a county history of either Phelps or Dent County, MO that lists Susan's sister, Elizabeth Kitchen as married to a Samuel Bradley; so far I've not found anyone to 'attach' with certainty to that union. My William Arthur Bradley died in 1852 according to Susan's obituary. A cousin of William Bradley Jr., also named William Bradley, living in Cemet, OK, in 1899 made an affidavit that appears with the land records in Phelps County. I have found so many brick walls in looking for this Bradley; there are family stories that indicate that his sons, Anthony and/or John, may have served with the Union Army while their brothers were on the other side. Thanks for reading this; keep me in mind as a lost Bradley out there! Barbara Sevier

    3. My grgrgr, Samuel D. Bradley, m. Catherine Campbell, was in Christian Co. KY as early as 1878. Have found him no earlier, but there were many Bradleys in Christian Co. at that time & early 1800's. A James Bradley was quite evident in many transactions, as there were many other Bradleys there during that period. Think there is any connection? VA. Anybody out there researching them. I know this is reaching far. I was running random names in the Ancestor file for Bradley family. I saw a listing for Bradley family in Orange Co. that interest me.. I know my Bledsoe and Adams families were in Orange Co. pre 1800. One of my Adams married a Bradley. Elizabeth Adams (d/o William Adams and Sarah Bledsoe) married Samuel Bradley in 1832 in Clark Co. KY. Samuel Bradley was a son of William Bradley and Sarah Logan. William and Sarah married in 1807 in Fayette Co. KY. I never been able to find the parents William Bradley born ~1785. By 1810 When William is located on Census with "other Bradley" family of unknown connection. There are 3 of Terry Bradley's desc listed in 1810.. Leonard Keeling Bradley, his son Terry, and Edward. There is also Dennis Bradley born 1758. And my William. IN 1790 there are some other Bradley in Fayette Co. KY, This part of Fayette Co. later became Scott Co. KY. Those Bradley in Scott Co. KY are connected to Orange Co. Bradley. They are siblings of the William Bradley that married Lucy Rice. I think that William Bradley's must be connected to Rice family, his first daughter was named Sarah Rice Bradley. William Bradley was born about 1785. There is also strong links to Boone family. Elizabeth Adams was the great granddaughter of Samuel Boone brother of Daniel. Sarah Logan mother was a Boone. There is a legend that she was raised by Squire Boone brother of Daniel. Lenoard Keeling Bradley (son of Terry Bradley) married a daughter of Samuel Boone. Can you help?
