It was not unusual for a 15 yr. old to be married and on their own. Most people did not live to be very old and were more mature at that age than we "modern" folks are. My husbands ancestor traveled from Denmark when he was 8. His other ancestor was 13 when she married. In Utah, there are a 12 and 13 yr. old boy and girl being charged with raping each other and she is pregnant. These things happen, even in this day!
