    3. Could you share the author and title of the book with us? Also, does the book happen to have any information on the descendants of the sons of Henry Swift Bradford? On 10/13/05, David E. Besides, it involves the crumbling of one of my "brick walls" after a lot of years and I want to share it with someone! :~) > > My link to the Bradford surname is my maternal g-grandmother, Mettie Fitch Bradford (1874-1958). Everyone who knew her affectionately called her "Mom," and one of the things I remember her telling me many years ago is that we are directly descended from Gov. William Bradford "who came over on the Mayflower." Now, any genealogist with two or more Bradfords in his genealogy wants to think he/she is descended from William Bradford, and I am no different. > > When I got "bitten by the genealogy bug" around 1990, one of the things I started to look for was a connection to Gov. Bradford. I have never been overly concerned with being related to famous people or royalty as some folks are. My major concern is, always has been and always will be the accuracy of my information, WHEREVER it might lead. However, that said, it is also kind of interesting to find names in your genealogy that you studied in school. I have off and on pursued extending my Bradford line back, hopefully to reach Gov. Bradford, but I have never been able to get out of the mid-1700s with it until now. > > A week or so ago I bought an old genealogy work of Gov. Bradford's descendants on eBay. It is actually a large PDF document, not a printed work, but yesterday I finally got lucky and my "Bradford brick wall" is now in shambles. My great grandmother was right, and I can now prove that we are connected to his line. I am still entering data, so at the moment I have a lot more work to do, but unless I am very badly mistaken our Bradford line directly descends to us through Gov. Bradford's son William. > > I just wanted to share that, but no response is especially called for unless someone wants to do so. Persistence, time and research are always good in cases like this, but a little luck never hurts anything. I knew nothing about this publication until I noticed it on eBay and bought it, only because it sounded like it had some possibilities. I have positively confirmed a connection to Gov. Bradford, and am 99% sure of a DIRECT connection from him to me. > > Now then. . . . . if I can only find something that will get me through my MAJOR brick wall with another great grandmother, whom I am becoming convinced never had any parents or siblings and was place on this earth by space aliens! After 13 years of searching, I finally found her birth surname, but unfortunately it is JONES. Looking for a female line is hard enough, but when it is Jones it's the perverbial "needle in a haystack." > > > David > decann@infionline.net > Bradford Board Admin > > > ==== BRADFORD Mailing List ==== > Looking for a genealogy chat?
