Hello everyone! :o) I wanted to let everyone know I'm working hard on updating the webpages for these lists. The main page as well as the main page for each surname has been updated and broken links fixed. I know the message board links were all broken and that is because rootsweb decided to do away with them after their partnership with ancestry.com and now they are all on ancestry. I have changed all those links and for surnames were I know multiple spellings and there are boards for those spellings, I added them to the boards (KERN and HUPP lists, this applies to you!). I am working on the rest of the pages, mostly working on tablizing all the census information to make it easier to read, and that should be done for all the surnames by the end of the week. Keep sending me your census data to add to the pages! I would love to have a complete listing for each surname in every state. Right now, all the surname main pages have 2 links at the top for census data. the first link is just for the 1790 census for all states (COVENTRY listers, i'm still putting on the info, it's not complete yet!) and the second link is to all other census years. This second link takes you to a page listing all 52 states with a link for each state that has census data. At this point, there are only a few states that have links for every surname, about 2 or 3 states on average. KERN listers, I'm in the process of rearranging your census data currently on my website to fit this formation, right now it's all on one page, but that will change. The other main change I'm working on is making the pages easier to read. This includes: bold text to make it stand out against the background, and in some cases, bigger font size. Also, you may notice on the bulleted lists that there is a period at the end of each line. This has nothing to do with grammar, but rather, as suggested by a fellow lister, this is done to make easier to read for text to speech programs for the visually impaired. If you have any other suggestions for making the site more "user friendly", drop me a line! Also, I am thinking of having an "unidentified persons" page of photos where people are trying to find out who they are. If you have some that fit this catagory, please send them to me (in .jpg or .gif format) with as much info as possible that you know (like where the picture was taken if known, approximate year, etc.) and we can try to find out who all our photos are of. Once I'm done with the rest of the work, I plan to start working on that and getting those photos up. Last thing, like I said earlier, someone questioned whether it was against policy of rootsweb to take information that had been posted to the list and put it on my webpage. As I said I would, I contacted rootsweb and they said there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing this so long as I get permission from the original poster (which I do anyway). Just want to put that out for those who are curious. Ok, now good luck in your research and send me that info you want on the webpage! :o) Your list manager, Erin ===== Erin Bradford eabradfo@yahoo.com http://www.usgennet.org/usa/nc/county/cabarrus/ http://www.usgennet.org/usa/nc/county/mecklenburg/ ALHN County Coordinator for Cabarrus and Mecklenburg Cos, NC http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~kshai (The Genealogy Depository) Listowner Barringer Black Bradford Coventry Eller Hackett Hupp and Kern
