Hi lists I first started my family history research when the 1901 census was up and running properly and looked for my grandfather. I found a Herbert BRADFORD who was in hospital and thinking this was my grandfather ordered his birth certificate but he was too young. He was born on 30 April 1898. This evening after deciding to tidy some papers I found I had printed off a Memorial from the War Graves Commission site of a Private Herbert BRADFORD died on 4 November 1918 which gives his mother's name as Minnie PECK (formerly BRADFORD). I suddenly thought I wondered if this was the same Herbert and on checking the birth certificate it is. I feel as though I have lost a relative even though I don't know if he is one. And I feel quite sad.
