Hi all. This is mainly for all of you who have Bradford lines in NC. I was just in the archives in Raleigh, NC yesterday and while I was there I got copies of the following wills: David Bradford, 1800, Granville Co. Philemon Bradford, 1804, Granville Co. Philemon Bradford, 1770, Granville Co. Richard Bradford, 1757, Granville Co. (Caroline Co., VA) Thomas Bradford, 1786, Granville Co. I will be working on transcribing these wills for the website (and I'll send them to the list as well). Please be patient with me, but I wanted to let you know I have them and I'm working on them. Now, about a year or so ago (maybe longer, can't remember), I sent an email to the list asking those of you with NC Bradford lines to send me your information to put into a database to help sort out these lines. I got some response, maybe 3 of you, but I know there has been a lot more of you to subscribed who may have NC lines. If you have a NC Bradford line, especially in the Northern half of NC, please let me know your information. This is what I'm looking for: Names, dates (if they are documented, let me know the source, if they are estimates, let me know that as well), locations (same thing with documentation), spouses (and documentation vs. estimates), marriage dates/locations (documentation vs. estimates), and children. The purpose of this database is 2-fold. 1. To help untangle the web of NC Bradfords. It can be so confusing before 1850 because there were 4 David Bradords in NC in the late 1700s/early 1800s, 2 in the North (father and son) and 2 in the South (father and son). There were also 4 or 5 John Bradfords in the Northern part of the state in the early 1800s as well as a John in the South. NC research is my specialty and I have a ton of resources at my disposal (I'm a librarian at the State Library...new job!) and I'm using these resources to help identify who was who, such as I'm doing with the wills. 2. When you submit information for the database, I include your contact information (whatever you provide, it could just be your email, but it can be more if you want) and when I add new people into the database, or rather receive new submissions to include, if I come across the person you have submitted, I can tell you both "Hey guys, you both share this line" and hopefully help you find a new cousin :) It's definitely to your advantage to submit your NC lines for the database, but the choice is yours, I just want to offer everyone an additional way to connect with others who share your lines and also help to straighten out the confusion of the Northern NC Bradfords. Good luck all with your research.
