    1. Re: Will of David Bradford, 1800
    2. Becky Mosely
    3. Just reread Erin's query and these are the only notes I have on the David who married Mary Kearney: PIONEER TRAILS, April 1974 David Bradford moved to Stewart Co., Tenn., 1804, at mouth of South Cross Creek on Cumberland River and kept a ferry; died ca 1821. There is a report by Genealogist Timothy Kearney prepared 27 Dec 1997 for Terrance H. Fregly (Google for it) that offers clues as to the relationships among NC Bradfords, including the Kearney sisters. The JOHN Bradford mentioned in the will is probably his brother. [b. abt 1751 d. 1829] who married Judith Mann. Granville Co. marriage Bonds: Judy Mann m. John Bradford Betty Mann m. David Bradford, 1777 Fanny Mann m. Booker Bradford, 1788 NOTE: In looking at the birth dates of the children of Philemon/Mary Byrd I wrote down the 1st five were born abt. 1730 to 1738..... THEN John and David were born abt. 1751 & 1754. These are the notes I had attached: Philemon may have been married more than once; some researchers say three times. Mary, who was named in his will, survived him for at least twelve years. It seems possible that she may have been the mother of John and David, but not of the other five children; there is a thirteen-year span of time between child numbers 5 and 6. David T. Bradford suggests that Philemon was married in Virginia to a woman named BIRD or BYRD. He further says that other researchers believe that the second wife was Mary PARKER, daughter of Jonathan and Ann (COPELAND) PARKER. Providing possible support for that thesis is the fact that two of the witnesses to Philemon's will were Joseph and Mary PARKER. SOURCE: LaVere Peters All would appreciate any clarification, gets kind of complicated when the wives have the same first name. Becky

    3. Erin - Many thanks for retrieving and transcribing this will. This isn't my line but this is what I have: DAVID was the son of PHILEMON & Mary Bryd, he is named in Philemon's will and left 400 acres on Poplar Branch, etc. (Believe this will is on LaVere Peters website.) David & Elizabeth's son, JAMES married Elizabeth Rust and they evidently moved to Smith Co., TN. Their children were: David M., Ann R., & Vincent R. all born in TN. DAVID had a brother Philemon who married Elizabeth Booker. So Booker Bradford was his nephew (he also removed to Brush Creek, Smith Co., TN). Don't see that this Philemon named a child Philemon so the person mentioned in the will must be David's brother himself who died before May 1804. The DAVID who married Mary Kearney, died abt. 1821 in Stewart Co., TN. He was the son of THOMAS & Mary Bradford, grandson of PHILEMON & Mary Byrd. So his relationship to David (of the will) was Nephew!!! [This is the lineage in the TN email before yours. His brother, #5 Thomas married Eve Kearney.] Anyway this is all very hard to ferret out and needless to say I could be incorrect in places. Becky

    1. Will of David Bradford, 1800

    3. Hi all! I wanted to let you know I got 1 will up! The Will of David Bradford of Granville Co. proven in May 1800 is now on the Bradford section of the Genealogy Depository (http://bradford.gendepository.com). It is interesting to note he named his "friend" Philemon Bradford and "friend" Booker Bradford in the will, I'm curious to find out if and how they are related. I have a father Philemon with a son Booker Bird in my database with no connection as of yet to this David. This David is the one who married Elizabeth Mann. I also have a David who died about 1800 supposedly in Granville Co. who married Mary Kearney. Does anyone know/have evidence these are the same Davids or were they different? This will I just transcribed was the only David before 1845(ish, can't remember exact date). Thanks all and good luck in your research! I do not have the paper proofs of the later generations so they need to be confirmed. (A male Bradford descendant of John Calvin could also participate for further confirmation.) 1. NC wills and Bradford lines
    2. Erin Bradford
    3. Hi all. This is mainly for all of you who have Bradford lines in NC. I was just in the archives in Raleigh, NC yesterday and while I was there I got copies of the following wills: David Bradford, 1800, Granville Co. Philemon Bradford, 1804, Granville Co. Philemon Bradford, 1770, Granville Co. Richard Bradford, 1757, Granville Co. (Caroline Co., VA) Thomas Bradford, 1786, Granville Co. I will be working on transcribing these wills for the website (and I'll send them to the list as well). Please be patient with me, but I wanted to let you know I have them and I'm working on them. Now, about a year or so ago (maybe longer, can't remember), I sent an email to the list asking those of you with NC Bradford lines to send me your information to put into a database to help sort out these lines. I got some response, maybe 3 of you, but I know there has been a lot more of you to subscribed who may have NC lines. If you have a NC Bradford line, especially in the Northern half of NC, please let me know your information. This is what I'm looking for: Names, dates (if they are documented, let me know the source, if they are estimates, let me know that as well), locations (same thing with documentation), spouses (and documentation vs. estimates), marriage dates/locations (documentation vs. estimates), and children. The purpose of this database is 2-fold. 1. To help untangle the web of NC Bradfords. It can be so confusing before 1850 because there were 4 David Bradords in NC in the late 1700s/early 1800s, 2 in the North (father and son) and 2 in the South (father and son). There were also 4 or 5 John Bradfords in the Northern part of the state in the early 1800s as well as a John in the South. NC research is my specialty and I have a ton of resources at my disposal (I'm a librarian at the State Library...new job!) and I'm using these resources to help identify who was who, such as I'm doing with the wills. 2. When you submit information for the database, I include your contact information (whatever you provide, it could just be your email, but it can be more if you want) and when I add new people into the database, or rather receive new submissions to include, if I come across the person you have submitted, I can tell you both "Hey guys, you both share this line" and hopefully help you find a new cousin :) It's definitely to your advantage to submit your NC lines for the database, but the choice is yours, I just want to offer everyone an additional way to connect with others who share your lines and also help to straighten out the confusion of the Northern NC Bradfords. Good luck all with your research. Based only on the information you gave, I can't help you with this specific John, in 1755 there were 5 John Bradford's in the Orange/Granville Co. area. However, based on him being listed with a David and Thomas, he may be the John mentioned in the will of Phillip Bradford who named 7 children (including sons David, Thomas, and John) and wife Mary. Do you have more information on the John you are looking for? A wife? Children? I maintain a database of NC Bradfords and I might be able to narrow him even further if I knew a name for his wife. Good luck!

It was not unusual for a 15 yr. old to be married and on their own. Most people did not live to be very old and were more mature at that age than we "modern" folks are. My husbands ancestor traveled from Denmark when he was 8. His other ancestor was 13 when she married. In Utah, there are a 12 and 13 yr. old boy and girl being charged with raping each other and she is pregnant. These things happen, even in this day!

It was destroyed but some records survived. Vespasian had 7 children that we know of. Two were named Richard. The first Richard was born 24 June 1605 and died the day after(25 June 1605). His last child was Richard (our Richard?) and was Christened 9 Dec. 1611. This would put him born at about that time. However, sometimes there was a longer period between birth and Christening. It does not appear that Vespasian waited. I hope this helps. In the same Parish we find children of a Richard Taylor and his servant Margaret Manning being Christened. An added note: The name Vespasias belonged to a Roman Emperor. Rome had invaded England at one time. Could it be that we are part Roman?! I have found no other information on Vespasian and I am still looking for the information as to where I believed Richard came from London. I am inclined to remember that it came from Ship records, but I am not sure.
