Hello all! While I'm still able to email AOL, I wanted to send a few thoughts to my AOL and cs.com subscribers. Despite all the problems with AOL and CompuServ blocking mail that is not actually spam, they are becoming more and more agressive in blocking "unwanted" mail. Although that can definitely be a good thing, it's a very bad thing if you are subscribed to ANY lists not on AOL or CompuServ servers. An example this, Dick Eastman who write the highly acclaimed genealogy newsletter "Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter" at EOGN.com has put a statement on his website about his address being blocked and making it so that anyone on AOL or CompuServ will no longer receive email from him. Rootsweb has already had some problems. I want to make a recommendation for anyone signed up to my lists (or any other for that matter) to sign up for a free account at http://mail.yahoo.com or http://mail.google.com or the many other places you can get a free account and use that account for all your email lists and non-AOL contacts. This way, you can be sure of always getting your email. I don't have the google mail, but I have 3 accounts with yahoo and they are really good at catching spam and when something does get through the filter, if you mark it as spam, anything like that sent in the future will be marked as spam, but an added bonus is that unlike AOL, you can look at the stuff marked as spam by yahoo and make sure nothing legitimate was marked as spam. I just want to make sure everyone signed up to my lists actually gets the email they have signed up to get. Good luck all in your genealogy! POSSIBLE SUCCESS: Early on in the Bradford Genetic project it was shown through the participation of a descendant of Thomas/Elizabeth Marshall Bradford that he was descended from Richard of Charles City. This Irwin Co. GA line has been a dead end for years BUT believe we may have now located his ancestors. This is provisional and the descendants need to gather the paper proofs connecting THOMAS to his father WILLIAM. (Proofs are available Richard to William) The lineage would be: 1. RICHARD 2. RICHARD/Anna Roles 3. THOMAS/Elizabeth Smith 4. WILLIAM/Rachel 5. THOMAS/Elizabeth Marshall CLUES: William was born abt. 1736, either in VA or NC. His father Thomas (3) had sold his inheritance in 1728 in Charles City Co., in 1739 he was OF the Colony of Carolina, his will was probated in 1762, NORTHAMPTON Co, NC. Most or all of his children removed to CLAREMONT, later named SUMTER, Co., SC. William (4) probably died here or possibly in Elbert Co. GA, where - a William - was granted land in 1786. (This could be a son William) William (4) was on the 1790 Census of Claremont Co. SC. THE PATH RESEARCHED: 1st Settlers to IRWIN CO, GA JOHN DORMINY (who married RACHEL BRADFORD) THOMAS BRADFORD WILLIAM BRADFORD S. GRIFFIN (son of James Griffin/Sarah Lodge) The above families were also ALL early settlers of MONTGOMERY CO. GA and most of their children were born there. (see Tax list 1805-06) Any confirmation of the above proposed connection would be appreciated. (It is interesting to note that THOMAS who married Mary Polly Hargraves would be the 1st Cousin of this Thomas who married Elizabeth Marshall. Both lines were unattached before Y-DNA entered the picture. Both lines were very early pioneers of S. Georgia & Florida respectively.) All input appreciated, this is just what I see and unproven on both the THOMAS BRADFORD's born around 1760. Regards, Becky

This is a LONG shot but was looking for something else and saw that some folks (on Ancestry) had JOHN BRADFORD of Fauquier Co., VA connected to the ACCOMACK CO, VA family. Remembered that JOSEPH BENNET BRADFORD of the Fauquier Co. family was in Burke Co. NC about 1790 & was an orderly under Gen. Sumter who gave him a hairbrush in 1781. JOHN BRADFORD (abt 1677 Accomack - 1754 Worcester Co, MD) was in the location of Adam's line. JOHN BRADFORD (abt 1692 - abt 1753 Fauquier Co) MARRIED the widow of THOMAS KINGCART of CALVERT CO. MD.... Mary Marr was her name.... JOSEPH BENNETT BRADFORD was their son.... Both families are outlined on the website. Just some observations. Samuel Norwood and wife, Mary Norwood, and THOMAS BRADFORD and wife, ELIZABETH BRADFORD, of the colony of Carolina to John Jones of Prince George County for 4 pounds 6 shillings.... 100 acres on north side of Blackwater Swamp adjoining the said John Jones (being land which formerly belonged to ROBERT SMITH, the FATHER of the above mentioned MARY and ELIZABETH. They inherited the land as his coheirs.) Wit: Holmes Boisseau, James Jones and James (X) Glover. Rec: 19 Mar 1739 Samuel (X) Norwood Mary (X) Norwood Thomas Bradford Elizabeth (X) Bradford I have never heard of Mary Moore being Mary Smith, Elizabeth's sister. It is clear here that ROBERT SMITH is their father and Mary is married to a Norwood while Elizabeth is married to Thomas Bradford. I do not know the wife of Robert Smith. From somewhere - I have Mary Moore as being born about 1730, which would make her about 35 years younger than husband Thomas and the about same age as Henry - so she was actually of a later generation than Elizabeth if this is correct. (Mary, in order to be the mother of Henry's children, Henry & Isham would have had to be younger.) Only the proof is my research, believe I had the remainder marked from Sandlund. Would really appreciated a note filling me in on Sarah's marriage to Ervin Adam Brown. beckymosely@comcast.net

Bradford/Rachel Shilling in my records as descendants of Richard of Charles City Co., VA. Do have FOSTER (1803-1879) as the son of Isham & Elizabeth McIntosh Bradford. According to Peter Sandlund, HENRY the son of THOMAS & ELIZABETH SMITH BRADFORD married his stepmother MARY MOORE (second wife of Thomas) and had two children by her, HENRY 1763-1822 & ISHAM 1765-1835. note: Thomas & Mary Moore Bradford also had a son Richard 1745-1826, and Thomas had seven children by his first wife Elizabeth. To confuse things more HENRY's nephew RICHARD POWELL BRADFORD 1766-1830 also immigrated to LA as well as two of his sisters. (This line would be: Richard Powell>Nathaniel>Thomas>Richard>Richard of Charles City.) I do not have complete info on the Louisana branches of this family and feel that things are probably confused because of Henry marrying his stepmother. Do think all are most likely connected.
