Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3YF.2ACIB/1632 Message Board Post: My name is Judith Wherry Callaway. I am interested in the project to save the Bradford-Berry House in HendersonvileTennessee which is being threatened with destruction. My father, Priestly Edward Wherry Sr. was the son of Harry Smith Wherry and Cecelia Willis Wherry. His siblings included John Smith Wherry, Harry Smith Wherry, Jr., Jennie May (Wherry) Johnson, Robert Emmitt Wherry, And Georgia E. Wherry. My Grandmother, Cecelia Willis Wherry, was the daughter of Stephen C. and Mary (Bradford) Willis. My father's name, Priestly, was apparently taken from a Dr. Priestly Bradford, who was apparently Mary (Bradford) Willis's father and my G Grandfather. Information about the project to save the Bradford house would be appreciated, as well as any additional information or correction regarding this line of my ancestry. I have been in contact with a cousin Mrs Cecelia Johnson Carden, who lives in Hendersonville, and is also very interested in the project.

    1. [BRADFORD-L] Hugh Bradford-PA-1750's
    2. Hi, I'm new to the list. Looking for ancestors of Hugh Bradford, d: 1756, Providence, PA, buried Augustus Lutheran Church, m: 1753, Catharina Schrack, by Rev. Henry Melchior Muhlenberg. The minister refers to Hugh Bradford as an "Englishman." Parents of two children: Samuel, b: 1754, and John, b: 1756. Assume father of Hugh might be a "Samuel" if the usual naming patterns were followed. Catharina's father was Johan Jacob Schrack, original settler of Trappe, PA. The "Bradford" family is mentioned frequently in "The Journals of Henry Melchior Muhlenberg." Eileen B. Livingston Pittsburgh, PA

    1. [BRADFORD-L] Webpage fully updated
    2. Erin Bradford
    3. Hello everyone! Just a note to let you know that I have been working hard to update the website (the link is in my signature as the "Genealogy Depository"). I have been working alphabetically by surname and just now finished with BRADFORD and uploaded everything. All broken links have been fixed or deleted. The main focus of these updates were to make the pages easier to read and to make the pages more organized. As a result of the organization aspect, some pages have been consolidated and links from the main BRADFORD page have disappeared. If you have bookmarked those links that are gone, don't fret, the pages are still there, just not linked and the text hasn't been changed. Please note that unless YOU submit new information to me to add to the pages, there will not be anymore information added. The whole point of this site was to connect those who are related, so share your info if you want some new cuzzies :o) Erin ===== Erin Bradford eabradfo@yahoo.com http://www.usgennet.org/usa/nc/county/cabarrus/ http://www.usgennet.org/usa/nc/county/mecklenburg/ ALHN County Coordinator for Cabarrus and Mecklenburg Cos, NC http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~kshai (The Genealogy Depository) Listowner Barringer Black Bradford Coventry Eller Hackett Hupp and Kern

    1. [BRADFORD-L] all webpages updated! and other info
    2. Erin Bradford
    3. Hello everyone! :o) I wanted to let everyone know I'm working hard on updating the webpages for these lists. The main page as well as the main page for each surname has been updated and broken links fixed. I know the message board links were all broken and that is because rootsweb decided to do away with them after their partnership with ancestry.com and now they are all on ancestry. I have changed all those links and for surnames were I know multiple spellings and there are boards for those spellings, I added them to the boards (KERN and HUPP lists, this applies to you!). I am working on the rest of the pages, mostly working on tablizing all the census information to make it easier to read, and that should be done for all the surnames by the end of the week. Keep sending me your census data to add to the pages! I would love to have a complete listing for each surname in every state. Right now, all the surname main pages have 2 links at the top for census data. the first link is just for the 1790 census for all states (COVENTRY listers, i'm still putting on the info, it's not complete yet!) and the second link is to all other census years. This second link takes you to a page listing all 52 states with a link for each state that has census data. At this point, there are only a few states that have links for every surname, about 2 or 3 states on average. KERN listers, I'm in the process of rearranging your census data currently on my website to fit this formation, right now it's all on one page, but that will change. The other main change I'm working on is making the pages easier to read. This includes: bold text to make it stand out against the background, and in some cases, bigger font size. Also, you may notice on the bulleted lists that there is a period at the end of each line. This has nothing to do with grammar, but rather, as suggested by a fellow lister, this is done to make easier to read for text to speech programs for the visually impaired. If you have any other suggestions for making the site more "user friendly", drop me a line! Also, I am thinking of having an "unidentified persons" page of photos where people are trying to find out who they are. If you have some that fit this catagory, please send them to me (in .jpg or .gif format) with as much info as possible that you know (like where the picture was taken if known, approximate year, etc.) and we can try to find out who all our photos are of. Once I'm done with the rest of the work, I plan to start working on that and getting those photos up. Last thing, like I said earlier, someone questioned whether it was against policy of rootsweb to take information that had been posted to the list and put it on my webpage. As I said I would, I contacted rootsweb and they said there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing this so long as I get permission from the original poster (which I do anyway). Just want to put that out for those who are curious. Ok, now good luck in your research and send me that info you want on the webpage! :o) Your list manager, Erin ===== Erin Bradford eabradfo@yahoo.com http://www.usgennet.org/usa/nc/county/cabarrus/ http://www.usgennet.org/usa/nc/county/mecklenburg/ ALHN County Coordinator for Cabarrus and Mecklenburg Cos, NC http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~kshai (The Genealogy Depository) Listowner Barringer Black Bradford Coventry Eller Hackett Hupp and Kern

    1. [BRADFORD-L] Tips on posting census info...an update
    2. Erin Bradford
    3. I guess I need to make this clear. I will NOT automatically take whatever is posted to the list without permission. If you post something to the list that I think the webpage would benefit from, I WILL contact you privately and ask for permission. Basically, what I was trying to get across in the original email is that if you want me to go ahead and put your census info that you submitted on the webpage, you should email to let me know the missing information, but also, this is just good practice to use generally speaking, not just for the list, but for anything, also cite your full sources. As for the census, include ALL information from the census in the, including the state, county, town, and page. Many posts lately have left me to wonder what state or what county the information is coming from. A question has been very valid question has been raised about whether this is against Rootsweb policy. I will check into this, but honestly I doubt it. The 3 main reasons I think this: 1. I'm getting permission from the sender 2. This is public domain information 3. The information is staying on Rootsweb, as my webpage is on rootsweb. Like I said, I will contact them to find out, and if it is against policy, I will take that information off (only about 5 files). I hope this answers any questions my last post left and I'm sorry for the confusing. 2. Erin Bradford
    3. Hey all! Just a note from your list manager :o) I have noticed a lot of census info on the lists lately, which I'm very glad to see, but some information is missing, such at county, township or page. Just a tip for when you send census info to the list, please make sure you include all information. Some of you have submitted census data without this information. I'm in the process of putting this data on the website for the list (please email if you do NOT want it on the website), so for those who didn't include it, I will be sending you a private email to ask you for the missing info. If you know you are one who didn't include all the info, please go ahead and send it to me now. Thanks! 1. [BRADFORD-L] IL research
    2. Erin Bradford
    3. Hi all! Just wanted to let everyone know of 2 terrific sites for IL research, some may already know of these, but for others, this may be completely new information: Pape Funeral Home http://www.papefuneral.com This site has TONS of death info for folks who died or are buried in Vermilion County, IL, especially the town of Danville. I found info on my HUPP/HUBB line here. IL State Archives http://www.sos.state.il.us/departments/archives/archives.html Follow the link for "Genealogical Research" and from there follow the link for "Databases" at the top of the page (underneath the picture of the man's face) to see all the databases they have online! TONS of info: military records, marriage records, death records, land records, servitude and emancipation records, and tons of IRAD holdings. I just recently found tons of information on my COVENTRY and HUPP ancestors in IL as well as WILDER, WORTHEY and others. For death and marriage (and maybe others), they give certificate number as well as names, dates, and locations. Good luck! ===== Erin Bradford eabradfo@yahoo.com http://www.usgennet.org/usa/nc/county/cabarrus/ http://www.usgennet.org/usa/nc/county/mecklenburg/ ALHN County Coordinator for Cabarrus and Mecklenburg Cos, NC http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~kshai (The Genealogy Depository) Listowner Barringer Black Bradford Coventry Eller Hackett Hupp and Kern __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
