That was all it said about Prospect & Bradfords. Davis was also a common name in the membership. Don't think it offered you more than I printed. Book is out of date, etc... probably in Gwinnett Library as well as others in Georgia. Sometimes on Albris (as well as other used/rare book places) you can put in the name of the title and they might have a copy available. Think I gave you everything pertinent though. Wasn't my line - just thought it interesting that there were so many Bradford's. Good Luck, Becky

    1. New website
    2. Erin Bradford
    3. Hello all! This is just to let you know we have a new website. Please be aware that the site will not be up for at least 2-3 weeks. The new domain/address is: http://www.gendepository.com Only one person made any suggestions, and unfortunately, none of them were available. She also made a good point that the full "www.genealogydepository.com" was lengthy so I shortened it just a little the best I could. Now, once the pages are up and running, I will let everyone know. 1. update about website domain
    2. Erin Bradford
    3. Ok, apparently there has been a misunderstanding. I am not talking about moving the lists. They will stay put. I'm only talking about my website which is currently hosted on Rootsweb. I can't really discuss my reasons for wanting to create my own domain on this list, but if your curious, send me an email and I'll explain the move, or rather the need to move, in more detail. Suffice it to say the main reason for the move off of Rootsweb is to protect information on the site that was submitted to me by others. What I'm talking about moving is NOT the lists, only the website http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~kshai and that's it. Sorry I wasn't precise enough about what was moving. 1. New site for the genealogy depository coming soon
    2. Erin Bradford
    3. Hello all! I'm sure that by now, everyone on the list (with the exception of the newbies) is familiar with my site, the genealogy depository on Rootsweb (see my signature below). I am now looking into a web host to host this site and have it's own domain seperate from Rootsweb. There will also be a few other pages on the site of mine for my ALHN county pages in NC. Although I like Rootsweb, I've been wanting the site to have it's own domain name and also looking to protect the information on the site since the majority of the information is submitted by you. Now, what I'm wondering is what people think about a domain name! I was thinking www.genealogydepository.com but wondering what all of you feel about it since this is your page. For those who aren't aware, the purpose of the site is to supplement the lists. Most of the information online already is census info, but some other info is there, especially for Bradford with 2 journals and lots of military info. With the current site, all the surnames are in subfolders (for Bradford, http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~kshai/bradford/) and with this new site, information would be by subdomain (ex: htt://bradford.genealogydepository.com). Let me hear your ideas (on or off the list) on domain name and any concerns, etc. As always, please continue to submit info to me. Right now, finals are coming in a few weeks, but during the summer, I will be adding new information to the new domain, what ever it's name will be. If many people wish for another domain name, I'll be putting the name up to vote at a later time. ===== Erin Bradford eabradfo@yahoo.com http://www.usgennet.org/usa/nc/county/cabarrus/ http://www.usgennet.org/usa/nc/county/mecklenburg/ ALHN County Coordinator for Cabarrus and Mecklenburg Cos, NC http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~kshai (The Genealogy Depository) Listowner Barringer Black Bradford Coventry Eller Hackett Hupp and Kern

    1. Dog tag website
    2. Erin Bradford
    3. Hi all! A message, via the the message boards, has been circulating some of these list about the dog tags website of American GIs during Vietnam. First, this site does appear to be legitimate, (www.founddogtags.com), but I wanted to let everyone know that cities in Vietnam are notorious for selling things that supposedly belonged to American GI's. These guys with the website are not selling anything, and I personally like what they are trying to do, but just be warned that most of them, if not all, are probably fakes. I think some may be real as some of the tags were returned to living GI's and they verified it was theirs....so they're either really good fakes or some real ones mixed in with the fakes. I am not trying to discourage anyone from visiting the site, but just want to give a heads up that they most likely aren't real. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3YF.2ACIB/1724 Message Board Post: Re Troy Bradford On a recent "Today Show" there was a story about two men who went to Hanoi on a business trip. The men encountered a guy selling old GI dog tags from US servicemen who were killed during the Viet Nam War. They were disgusted by the thought of this man profiting from the sale of these tags. Upon returning to the U.S., they decided to go back to Viet Nam and purchase ALL the dog tags. They did so, paying 19 cents per tag! They brought home several hundred tags. The plan is to return the tags to surviving family members, when they can find them. The process has already begun with one set being turned over to a grieving Mom on July 4th, (coincidentally, it was on her birthday)! These two men have set up a website, "http://www.founddogtags.com" listing the names of all those whose tags they purchased. If you lost friends, family, or know of someone who lost a loved one in Viet Nam, I suggest you check out this website. If you recognize a name, there's an e-mail address to contact these two men and to help in their efforts to return the dogtag to it's rightful survivor. I'm sure a family member would be eternally grateful to have such an important item returned. Please help by checking this website. And please send the website address to everyone you know. The more people who see the lists, the greater the chance of returning ALL the tags to those who lost loved ones in Viet Nam!

    1. [BRADFORD-L] Betsey (Elizabeth) M. Bradford m. Nelson Wells
    2. Marjorie Bridges
    3. Does anyone know the parents of Betsey Bradford who married Nelson Wells in Chemung Co., NY, on 11 July 1833. She was born 20 June 1812 in Blenheim, Schoharie Co., NY. I believe she died in Will County, IL late in the century after being widowed in 1860. There were three Bradfords in Blenheim Twp. in 1810: John S., Silas, and Simon; in 1820 census John S. was gone; Silas and Simeon were left. Simeon had two daughters under age 10. Schoharie County Historical Society could not find a baptism for Betsey. In the 1880 census Betsey identifies her father as being from CT and her mother born VT. She was 67, widow, living with a married daughter Juliette Sharpe in New Lenox, Will Co., IL. Can anyone help with this family? Margie Bridges

    3. I am doing research on the family of John and Susannah Rucker Bisland Family of Pine Ridge, Adams County, MS. My great, great aunt Susannah Elizabeth Bisland, (daughter of James and Mary King Bisland, James was the son of Susannah Rucker and John Bisland) born 15 July 1831 married in Adams County on 16 October 1850 Thomas H. Bradford "of" Jefferson County, MS. It is not known who his parents were. Thomas and Susannah Elizabeth Bisland Bradford had two sons: James Cowden Bradford who was baptized in the Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church on 2 January 1853 and Alexander Bisland Bradford born ca 1854 and died in Nashville, TN 20 December 1892. On the 1830 Jefferson County, MS census there was an A. B. Bradford in whose household were 1 male and 1 female under age 10, 2 males and 1 female age 20 to 40, and 1 male age 60 and over. Does anyone know if this is the family of Thomas H. Bradford OR the names of his parents? Thanks for any help. Ella McCaleb Young
