Hi, Found this while surfing for Gilpin Baty, Rev. Richard, born at Arthuret, was rector of Kirk-Andrews, and instrumental in promoting the schools there. He published the following works: Seasonable Advice to a Careless World, Prayers for Private Families, Clergyman's Companion for visiting the Sick, &c. Died 1758. (J) Beattie, John, born at Bewcastle in 1844, was elected mayor of Newcastle in 1900, following a career as a draper.
