Ray, Thank you so much I thought I was going crazy.. No one understood I was speaking about two different people.. George Washington Beatty and George Beatty. Is there anyway you can convert the gedcom to a word document. And send as a word attachment instead of a gedcom file. I'll convert it if you can't ist just easier for me. If i upload a gedcom to my file it over writes whats there. So I enter it individually a person at a time. Either way I want the file #3. I'm getting into Berk's perage to check the info there. I remember this problem in the Lineage 005 records........I think it came from the 1989 Marlene Smith genealogy, Lancaster, Ohio......my memory is not perfectly clear on this so let's not blame Marlene......I do remember the solution, however. I went back to Egle's book (as you know the major secondary source on early Lineage 005) ....he has the George Beatty who married 3rd Catherine Shrom as the son of James Beatty and Alice Ann Irwin.....he then has James as the son of William and Mary Mckee. Egle has no descendants for Alexander, brother of William. Today I double-checked all of the above....re-reading Egle....and the above stands.... Unfortunately Egle is the best we have at this point. He lists no sources so his work doesn't really "prove" anything....just gives us a guide..... A couple of years ago I started an update of L-005 attempting to document it all and then got sidetracked (perhaps overwhelmed.....especially with the Orange Co NY branch).....ANYWAY........ I evidently didn't send Mike this update since I considered it incomplete and awaiting further attention..... am not sure I sent it to Donna either who has been working on the lineage......so apologies are in order to both..... Of the three versions I have of L-005--- 1. my old copy of the Lineages Master File 2. Mike's December 2002 copy... 3. My "update in progress" copy of L-005 #3 is the most complete and most documented..... I will be happy to send anyone a gedcom of #3.....
