Mexican War Pension: In 1887 William L. Beatie, a resident of Brownsville, Saline County, Missouri states that he was a Private in Company D commanded by Captain John W. Reid in the 1st Regiment of Mo Mounted Volunteers commanded by Col A.. W. Doniphan in the War of 1846 with Mexico. He states he "was mustered in the U. S. service at Ft. Leavenworth on the 10th of June, 1846" and was discharged at New Orleans. He gives a lengthy description of troop movements. He states he received Bounty Land, located in Saline County, MO. He is 63 years old and was born at Somerset KY in Pulaski County. He is 5 feet 10 inches high of light complexion, blue eyes, auburn hair. Elizabeth B. Beatie, widow of William applies for accrued pension in August of 1891. She states that William died Dec. 12, 1890. She married William L. Beatie on March 15, 1853 at Saline County, MO and her maiden name was Elizabeth B. Huffman. In December of 1891 she is living in Wellington, Kansas (Sumner County). Elizabeth was dropped from the pension rolls on Jan 29, 1899 due to her death. She was last paid $8.00 on Nov. 4, 1898. Laurel Baty, L252
