Beaty was enrolled on the 15th day of December, 1861, at Somerset, Ky, and mustered into us U.S. service on the [____] day of [___], 186_, at [___], by [___], to serve three years. It further appears from said Rolls, that John G. Beaty was a private in Company "D", 2nd Regiment Tennessee Infantry Vols.; and to which are attached the following remarks: "Died on the march from Somerset KY to Flat Lick KY at McHerge Mills February 17, 1862, of measles. January 23rd 1867 Sir: I have the honor to return herewith application for pension, No. 129.653 with such information as is furnished by the records of this Office, Private John G. Beaty, Co. "D", 2nd Regiment Tennessee Vols, is reported to this office by Adj't Gen'l Tenn, Jas. P. Brownlow as having died February 17, 1862, on the march from Somerset KY to Flat Lick KY at McHerge Mills, of measles. Very respectfully Your obedient servant, By order of the Surgeon General: J. J. (3) [Affidavit to correct birth dates of Isaac and Malinda] State of Tennessee County of Fentress On this 23rd day of August 1867 personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in and for said county and state, Zilphy Beaty, widow of John G. Beaty, who was a private in Company D. commanded by Captain Samuel C. Honeycutt in the second Regiment of East Tennessee Infantry Vol., do testify on oath as to the discrepancy in the evidence now pending in the pension office in relation to the births of her children to wit: Isaac and Malinda J, and would respectively state that the error was in her declaration for original pension and not in her application for increase for in the first application for her pension of eight dollars per month she corrected (?) an error for it should have been Isaac Beaty was born June the 20th, 1860 and Malinda J. should have been born March the 3rd, 1862. She further states that the error was either in her or her attorney and she cannot say which was in error but that the discrepancy was as above stated. W.S. Hill Zilphy (her X mark) Beaty John W. Gaudin State of TN Sworn and subscribed before me the day and year first above written and I certify that I am disinterested in this matter in any manner whatever and that the witness are credible and entitled to full faith and credit on oath and that the contents of this affidavit were read to her before the signing of the same. Reagan whose name before appears was at the time of signing the same a Justice of the Peace in and for said county and state duly elected, commissioned, qualified and sworn and all his official acts as such are entitled to full faith and credit and that his signature as it before appears is genuine given under my hand and seal of Fentress County court at office in Jamestown, this 27th day of August, 1867.
