Keyword: Beatty Raymond Alfred Hard - (Houston Chronicle) RETIRED DISTRICT CHIEF RAYMOND ALFRED HARD was born August 4, 1916 in Houston passed away at 7:00 AM on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at his home. He was the son of Retired Houston Fire Department Junior Captain Emry Elbert Hard, Sr. and Norine Blanch Valentin Hard. He joined the Houston Fire Department in 1936 at the age of 20. He married Margaret Katherine Wright on August 21, 1937 and to this union 3 daughters was born Vivian Lee, Marjorie Ann and Mary Frances. Mr. Hard retired in January of 1974 as District Chief of the Houston Fire Department. Raymond was a weight lifter all his life and an avid golfer until age 85. He was ordained a Deacon at Berean Baptist Church on March 13, 1957. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret K. Hard; brother, Jack R. Hard; daughter, Marjorie Beatty and husband William H. Beatty, Sr.; grandchildren, Linda Lee Ethridge and husband Steve, Richard W. Beatty, John C. Tice, III, Katherine F. Tice, Charles Miller, Pauline L. Follmer and William H. Beatty, Jr.; great grandchildren, Kristy Black, Jared Follmer, Kyle Ethridge, Blaze Ethridge and Clayton Ethridge. The family would like to invite friends for visitation from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, November 28, 2003 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Freeway. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 29, 2003 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Earthman Resthaven Cemetery. Diane Ward Sives L130B
