History of Greene Co., OH -1902 By George F. Robinson Pg. 55 William A. Beatty Mr. Beatty was also director of the town of Xenia, being the successor of General Joseph C. Vance, who removed to Champaign county in 1805, at the organization of said county, and continued to act as such until 1817, at which time he removed to Brownstown, Jackson county, Indiana. He died intestate and insolvent in November, 1821, leaving, at the time of his death, his widow, Jane Beatty, who afterward married Robert Holmes, a resident of Scott county, Kentucky, also the following children, to wit: John A., who died without issue; James F., William S., Josiah G., Samuel M., Mary L., and Francis. Josiah and James F. remained in Xenia for some years. The balance of the family went to Kentuckyafter the marriage of their mother to Mr. Holmes. William A. Beatty came from Georgetown, Kentucky(Scott co.), to Xenia, Ohio some time in the summer of 1803. I have always wondered if this is the marriage. Beatty, William A. Sp : Miller, Elizabeth-Apr 26, 1808-Washington Co., MD I tried to tell from census which William Beatty this is, the son of George or the son of William A. There are two in 1850 census with wife Mary but even knowing the neighbors it is impossible-they all lived very closely together and then add to that that Rev.War William's dau, Caroline Beatty Stiffler/Steffler is living with the Sarah Miller of this deed. Her sister Virginia married Bray S. Miller. ---------------------------------------------------------------- N-442 Beaty from Scruggs This indenture 17 Oct. 1836 between Gross F.
