This is the only unindexed Bounty Land Claim to be found under the spelling of Baity; I have included a complete transcription of the file: BAITY, William (or Baty) Act of 55-160; Wt 9626 Private, Capt. M. Price, Alabama Mounted Volunteers, Florida Seminole War State of Tennessee County Of Bedford On this fourth day of January A. D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty one personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace within & for the county and State aforesaid William Baity aged thirty three years, a resident of Bedford County in the State of Tennessee, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical William Baity who was a private in the company commanded by Captain M. Price in the Battalion of Jackson county Mounted Volunteers commanded by Lieut. Col David Caulfield in the war waged by the United States against the Seminole Indians in Florida in 1836 & 1837, that he volunteered and was mustered into service at Claysville, Alabama on or about the eight day of September A. D. 1836 for the term of twelve months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of twelve months and was honorably discharged at Bellefonte, Alabama on the 12th day of September A. D. 1837, on account of his time of enlistment having expired, as will more fully appear by reference to his original Certificate of discharge here with filed, and by the muster rolls of said Company. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which he may be entitled under the "act granting bounty land to certain officers & soldiers who have been enrolled in the military service of the United States ?? September 28th 1850. William Baty Sworn to & subscribed before me the day and year above written. And I hereby certify that I believe the said William Baity to be the identical man who served as aforesaid and that he is of the age above stated.
