Milton Beaty, Civil War Pension (Certificate # 1111,096) In 1907 Milton Beaty, 64 years old and living in Morrisonville, Christian County, Illinois states that he enlisted on Sept. 5, 1861 in Company H, 31st Indiana Infantry in the Civil War. He states he was born May 11, 1843 at Springville, Lawrence county Indiana and since the service has lived in Helena Montana and Morrisonville, Illinois. In another form dated 1905 he states that he was discharged on Oct. 13, 1864 and lived in Owensburg for the remainder of 1864. He lived in Montana in 1865-66 and has lived in Morrisonville, Illinois since that time. In 1913 Eliza J. Beaty applies for a widows pension. She states that she was married under the name of Eliza Jane McDowell at Harrodsburg August 22, 1877. She states that Milton died on November 13, 1913 at Morrisonville, Illinois. Rupert E. Beaty and Raymond H. Beaty are witnesses to this document. A. L. Stocks, undertaker states "I was called to the residence of Milton Beaty November 13, 1913 to prepare his body for burial, on November 16, 1913. I placed the body of Milton Beaty in a casket and the casket in a wooden box which placed in a grave in the Morrisonville Cemetery.. A marriage license for Jane McDowell and Milton Beaty from Monroe County Indiana is in this file. In a form dated 1905 Milton states that his children were: Rupert E., born May 19, 1878; Raymond H. born Feb, 29, 1880 and Ethel Orian born March 27, 1882. W. H. Beaty, a resident of Wheeler, Illinois states I knew said claimant (Eliza Beaty) since she was about 9 years old up to the present time also knew the said soldier Milton Beaty from infancy up to the time of his death.. I am now 69 years old. In a letter dated June 30, 1930: The following persons, Rupert E. Beaty and Raymond H. Beaty, will receive letters of executorships of the last Will and Testament of Eliza J.
