Is anyone researching or know anything about John Beatty living in Belmont Co, Ohio in 1840? He was age 20-30 living with a wife age 20-30. By 1850 John Beatty was dead and his second wife Elizabeth Garrett Beatty was living with her family with her stepdaughter Letta A Beatty. In 1860 Elizabeth was still in Belmont Co living with sister Matilda and stepdaughter Litty A Beatty. In 1880 Elizabeth was living in Magnolia, Putnam Co, Illinois with her sister Matilda and stepdaughter Letty Ann. Letty Ann Beatty listed her mother's birth place as Maryland (as was her stepmother's), and her father's as Pennsylvania. She was 36 and unmarried. My Samuel Beaty of lineage 7/34 was in the same township as John Beatty in 1840. My Samuel named his youngest daughter Latitia. I believe these two Beattys to be either brothers or cousins. John Beatty would be of an age to be Samuel's brother. I find it coincidental that their daughters would be named similarly. It doesn't bother me that Letty Ann said her father was born in Penn instead of Virginia. I've found in my research that 50% of the time, children name the wrong state their parents were born in.
