Laurel, good for you! You won't believe this, but since the full moon is approaching again Friday, I am not surprised! I no sooner clicked off an e-mail to a researcher connected with the district library in South Bend, Indiana, where my James Lewis Beatty died, when I clicked open THIS e-mail and saw this list! Did you suspect that these were going to be in a different file? That's amazing and it is great news! I write the researcher back and sent the whole list to the him, telling him to continue looking around South Bend records, because there might be something else on my James. Last week when I received John Beatty's pension file, I didn't look very closely at the St. Joseph County, IN Cem. Inscriptions list, but now that I do, I see names of a lot more non-Beatty names. I have put asterisks on top and underneath of my James. Also, about the tenth name down is Cornelius B. name Beatty, who was also in the 128th Regiment, but in Company H. The name Cornelius is not a common name, and there was a Cornelius Beatty who lived in Fayette Co., Kentucky in 1790. I don't think I saw his name on any of the letters, but I know that James L. Beatty tried to get in touch with some of the other men in his regiment, so they could vouch for the fact that James was in good health now but , most of them had died.
