"K" 132 NY Vols.; died at Andersonville Georgia Oct. 16, 1864; mother Mary, Cert # 86,922 In August of 1865 Mary Beatty, 49 years old and a resident of Staten Island, New York files a "Mother's declaration for Pension." Mary is the wife of James Beatty and the mother of Aaron Beatty, a private in Company "K" 132nd Regiment of New York Volunteers in the war of 1861 who died October 16, 1864 at Andersonville, Georgia. Mary married James Beatty at Staten Island New York on March 25 18--- (last 2 numbers not filled in) and he is unable to support his family. Theodore Burgher and Jane Pratt of Staten Island, Richmond County New York state "that for about the past ten years the said James Beatty has been unable to support his family on account of old age and infirmity, and has not contributed to their maintenance and support." In another document they state "James Beatty is "about 76 years of age and almost a cripple."
