From the Cumberland Co, PA message board at ancestry/rootsweb.com Can anyone recognize this James Beatty? -------- Original Message -------- Subject: {not a subscriber} James Beatty - Cumberland County Militia Date: Thu, 5 Feb 2004 16:34:18 -0700 From: jaenglish@att.net To: PACUMBER-L@rootsweb.com This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg//JaB.2ACE/3200 Message Board Post: I'm looking for information on a James Beatty, 1744-1827, who served in the Cumberland County Militia - Revolutionary War. Unfortunately, I don't know much about James other than he had a daughter, Rachel, 1800-1872, and at some point they made their way to Western Pennsylvania where Rachel married John Aber of Plum Township, Allegheny County. James Beatty, John & Rachel Aber and other members of the Aber family are buried at the Beulah Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Churchill, Allegheny County, PA - a suburb of Pittsburgh. I know nothing of James' wife. A excerpt from the book "History of Allegheny County" states that James Beatty, father of Rachel, was held prisoner by the Indians for three years, and his father was murdered by the Indians....! Unfortunately, the father is not named. If any of this sounds familiar, I would love to hear from you. Janet -- joe
