Robert E. Beatty, Company "I" 123rd Pennsylvania Infantry, Mother Maria Beatty (application # 266,686) In May of 1880, Maria Beatty aged 70 and a resident of McKeesport, Allegheny County Pennsylvania applied for a Mother's pension. She states that she is the mother of Robert E. Beatty who enlisted at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in August of 1862 in Company "I" 123rd Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers in the war of 1861 and who "contracted chronic diarrhea from which he never recovered & which was the cause of his death, he having died in Tyrone, Blair County Pennsylvania from the effects of said disease on August 17, 1865. Maria states that she married Robert's father at Tyrone, Blair County, Pennsylvania on Feb. 19, 1843 and that her husband died at Tyrone Blair county Pa. on October 31, 1850. The witnesses to her signature are Henry and John Smith. This is a very short file.
