Need to head to work. See if you can find Albert, John H., and Wm Henry in 1860. Albert should be in Logan Co and Wm. Henry should be in Ohio somewhere. He dies later from hard service in the war, and John could be headed to Kansas. Albert would only be 12 and should be living according to the County History. Wm. H. is in the 1870 census I sent you. and by 1870 Albert would be in Cleveland I bet. I don't have any Ohio on my 1860 census index, but there was a John H. Beatty in Hillsboro, Montgomerty Co., Illinois Page 6. This is a screwy mess!!! If he had two wives then why wasn't Albert who was only 12 in 1860 with either his mother or father???? The rest of the boys could have been on their own, but Albert would not have been old enough to do that. We need to get an original copy of the county history. The one in the FTW file is someone's version and we need to see if the original reads differently. Karen xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Beatty, David W., Private Co. "G" 1st Ohio Infantry; mother Mary Beatty (Certificate # 61,761) On June 17, 1865 Mary Beatty, aged 45 and a resident of Bellecentre, Logan County, Ohio, filed a mother's claim for pension. She states that she is the mother of David W. Beatty, a private in Company "G" commanded by Captain Trapp in the 1st Regiment of Ohio Volunteers, who "was killed in the act of ascending Mission Ridge Tenn., on the 24th day of November 1863, by means of a gun shot received through the neck causing immediate death." Mary states that she was divorced from David's father, William Beatty, on the Nov. 8, 1855. A copy of the divorce decree (filed in Logan Co., Ohio) is in the file which states "that plaintiff Mary Beatty shall have the exclusive care disposition guardianship and custody of the minor children of the parties named in the petition: to wit: Henry, David W., Albert, Catherine and John Beaty." William Hull and Julius Ragan, both of Bellecentre, Logan Co., Ohio, state "since said divorce the said husband William Beatty has intermarried to a Miss Jane Vansicles about ten years since, and is now supporting his now wife & children; that his former wife Mary Beatty is left entirely without his support in the least and that she is now wholly dependent upon her children for her support; that she has been paralyzed on one side by a severe stroke of the palsy, and a slight stroke on the other side. So that she has been entirely worthless unable to walk or do any other work; that she now makes her home with her eldest daughter Catherine, whose husband is a Private in the regular army, and whose means are all needed for the use of his own family; that her two sons John, 17 years old & Albert 15 years old are doing for themselves and have no other means than their own labor for their support." Ruth and Henry Marsh of Logan County, Ohio state "we were present & saw the said William Beatty & Mary Beatty married in the County of Harrison Ohio on or about the 9th day of November 1837."
