His widow received a pension in 1844 for his services. DAR ID Number: 38939 Born in Rochester, New York. Descendant of Col. Nathaniel Rochester, and Col. Jonathan Child. Daughter of Washington Gibbons and Mary Louisa Child, his wife. Granddaughter of Jonathan Child and Sophia Eliza Rochester, his wife. Gr.-granddaughter of William Child and Mary Heaton, his wife; Nathaniel Rochester and Sophia Beatty, his wife. Gr.-gr.-granddaughter of Jonathan Child and Dinah Bacon, his wife. Nathaniel Rochester, (1752-1831), served on the Committee of Safety of Orange county and 1776 in the Provincial Congress of North Carolina. He was appointed paymaster and commissary general of military stores and established a manufactory [p.346] of arms at Hillsboro, N. C. He died in Rochester, N. Y., a city he founded. Also Nos. 1138, 2049, 5463, 9932, 21470, 24171, 26982. Jonathan Child, (1734-1814), served as colonel in many battles and his son, William, was with him at Bennington.
