DAR ID Number: 49761 Born in Waco, Texas. Wife of J. B. Beatty. Descendant of Gilbert Thornton and of Robert Stark, Jr. Daughter of John C. West and Mary E. Stark, his wife. Granddaughter of Theodore Stark and Eliza Casey Lamar, his wife; John Charles West and Nancy Clark Eccles, his wife. [p.342] Gr-granddaughter of Robert Stark, Jr., and Mary Hay, his wife; Jonathan Eccles and Catherine Thornton, his wife. Gr-gr-granddaughter of Robert Stark and Mary Hall, his wife; Gilbert Thornton and Keziah Kitchell, his wife. Gilbert Thornton (1732-1802) served as a private in the Morris County, New Jersey, militia, and in the State troops. He was born in Boston, Mass., lived in New Jersey during the Revolution, removed to South Carolina in 1795, where he died in Camden. Robert Stark, Jr. (1762-1830) was in the battle of Blackstock, Eutaw Springs, and Cowpens. He became distinguished in law, and in 1819 was Secretary of State of South Carolina, where he died, in Columbia. He was born in Petersburg, Va. Gr-granddaughter of Joshua Holmes and Margaret Lobdell, his wife. Gr-gr-granddaughter of James Holmes and Anne Whittaker, his wife. James Holmes (1748-1826), enlisted from Bedford County, Pa., and served in Miles' Rifle regiment. He was born in Western Pennsylvania, and died in Licking County, Ohio. Granddaughter of Isaac Van Pelt and Mary Jane Beatty, his wife, m. 1841. Gr-granddaughter of Andrew Beatty and Judith Carter, his wife, m. 1794. Andrew Beatty, in 1780, served as a private in Capt.
