Gr-gr-granddaughter of James Smith and Abigail Hempstead (1739-1814), his wife, m. 1756. James Smith (1732-98) enlisted, 1775, as sergeant in Capt. James Chapman's company, 6th Connecticut regiment, under Col. Samuel Holden Parsons. He was born and died in New London.
