Revolutionary War Final Pension Payments Beatty, Arthur; widow Elizabeth #W20694, Albany County, New York; “…that Arthur Beatty of the Coxsackie in Greene county…died on the tenth day of December 1836. That he left a widow named Elizabeth him surviving and who is still living and resides in said town.” Dated Nov. 2, 1838. Elizabeth Beatty appoints Robert Shepard her attorney and signs (by mark) Elizabeth Beatty. (7 pages) Beatty, Daniel; # S30851, Montgomery County, Kentucky; appoints George Beatty his attorney on September 4, 1839; Cyrene Beatty is a witness on this document. Also on Sept. 4, 1839 Daniel Beatty states “he now resides in Montgomery County Kentucky and has resided there for the space of forty five years past; and that previous thereto he resided in Fayette County, KY.” (3 pages) Beatty, David; Iredell County, North Carolina; widow Isabella, #W4894. There are four sets of documents for David Beatty filed under last Pension Payments at the National Archives: 19 March 1840 (8 pages); 27 February 1840 (signed David Beatey, witness David Miller) “that he resides in Iredell County, North Carolina and has always resided there.” (3 pages) There is another set of similar documents dated Aug. 25, 1838 (5 pages). There is another set of similar documents dated Sept. 5, 1845 (4 pages). David’s family is not mentioned in any of these documents. Beatty, Henry; # S19203, Frederick County, Virginia; on the 8th day of March 1839 Henry states that he resides at Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia and “has resided there for the space of fifty years past; and that previous thereto he resided in Frederick County, Maryland.” Henry signs his name “Henry Beatty” and has two witnesses on the document Lemuel Bent and David J Castleman (4 pages) Beatty, James; #S2990; Rutherford County, Tennessee; on the 4th day of September 1834 James states that “he now resides in Rutherford County, Tennessee and has resided there for the space of thirteen years past; previous thereto he resided in Cumberland County, Kentucky.” Isaac Beatty and Allen Whialfield identify James Beaty in Davidson County, Tennessee. (3 pages) Beatty, James #S23540; Jackson Township, Coshocton County, Ohio; “..he now (Sept. 4, 1841) resides in Jackson Township, Coshocton County, Ohio and has resided there for space of five months past and that previous thereto he resided (for a short time) in Gurnsey County, Ohio.” Joseph B. Beaty is a witness. James signs his name “James Beatty Sener” J. Barton Beaty and B. C. Brown identify James Beaty. (3 pages) Beatty, John; S39987, widow Mary “This is to certify that it is my wish & request that Letters of Administration be taken out by P.(Penrose) Robinson to settle the estate of my late husband John Beatty.” Signed Mary Beatty (her mark) witnessed by Tho. C. Hambly. Dated Sept. 23, 1829, York County, Pennsylvania. Thomas Owen of York County is a witness to the death of John Beatty (August 30, 1829). (9 pages) Beatty, John; # S22644, widow Nancy, Armagh Township, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania; “John Beatty was a pensioner of the United States…was a resident of the County of Mifflin and State of Pennsylvania, and died in the year 1840, on the 27th day of June, that he left a widow whose name is Nancy Beatty….the deceased pensioner resided in Mifflin County in the State of Pennsylvania, for the space of Twenty years before his death, and that previous thereto he resided in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania” (8 pages) Beatty, John; widow Sarah # W2909, Montgomery County, Kentucky; “John Beatty, late a pensioner of the United States, departed this life on the Ninth day of June 1839…That Sally Beatty is the widow of the said John Beatty and that she is now living.” George Beatty and Thos Kemper are witnesses on a Power of Attorney for Sallie Beatty; she appoints Independent Gist her attorney on Nov. 10, 1840. George Beatty and Daniel McCullough identify Sallie Beatty as the widow of John Beatty on Nov. 10, 1840. (8 pages) Beatty, Joseph; # S35188, Grayson County, Kentucky; “An instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Joseph Beatty deceased was produced in Court and proven by the oaths of William Ewing, William Fulkerson and Uriah Pirtle…” “William Ewing …made oath that on the 8th day of September 1827 Joseph Beatty…died…that he has resided in said county upward of 20 years…25th day of October 1827.” (4 pages) Beatty, Thomas; S39986, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania “…Thomas Beaty a Revolutionary soldier and United States Pensioner late of Westmoreland County & commonwealth of Pennsylvania deceased, died having first made his will and thereby appointed James Long of said county the Executor of his last will and Testament..” Stephen Pound sates that Thomas Beaty died “at Derry Township in said County on the third day of April in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twenty two.” (7 pages) Beatty, William #S12194, Orange County, New York; “…Mariah Beatty…states that her father William Beatty deceased Late of said county was a pensioner of the United States at the time of his death and drew a pension…and that her father the said William Beatty died on the first day of May 1834 and left no widow but left her this deponent his only child surviving him and that she is of lawful age (signed Maria Beatty, June 23, 1847). Jane Beatty is a witness on a Power of Attorney. (10 pages) Beaty, Andrew #S35188, Fentress County, Tennessee; “”be it known that at a County Court holden for the County aforesaid at the Court house in the Town of James Town on the 7th day of Aug. 1837…proved to the Court here that William Beaty, Thomas Beaty, Alexander Beaty, Andrew Beaty, Agnes Hull formerly Beaty who intermarried with Jonathan Hull are the only surviving children of the late Andrew Beaty dec’d …who died on the 19th day of July 1836 leaving no widow…” “…at the time of his death he resided in said Fentress County and had resided there for the space of two months past previous thereto resided in Cumberland County State of Kentucky.” (5 pages) Beaty, Hugh #S2062, Union County, Pennsylvania; “he now (April 3, 1833) resides in Hartley Township and has resided there for the space of Twenty two years and that previous to that he resided in Buffaloe & Centre Townships of said County.” (4 pages) Beaty, John # S9275, Ulster County, New York “…John Beaty late of the town of Marbletown in the county of Ulster, and state of New York deceased was a Revolutionary Pensioner of the United States died on the 5th day of September 1834. That he left no widow. That John Beaty, Henry Beaty and Jane Beaty are the only children and heirs at law of the said John Beaty deceased and that they the said John Beaty, Henry Beaty and Jane Beaty are of the age of twenty one years and upwards.” Dated May 4, 1835. Henry Beaty signs a power of attorney. Jane and John Beaty sign with their “marks” (3 pages) Beaty, John #14937, Orange County, New York; On the 18th day of October 1839 John Beaty states that he “now resides in the town of New Windsor county and state aforesaid and has resided there for the space of Eighty six years past, and that previous thereto he resided in no other place and that by reason of infirmity he is unable to write.” (1 page) Beaty, John # W5083, Moon Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. On May 17, 1830 James Todd of Allegheny County, PA states that “he was present at his (John’s) decease,” and that John died on July 17, 1829. Mary Teel of Allegheny County, PA states that “she was present at the marriage of said Jane the widow unto John Beaty a pensioner Deceased. Said witness saith that the said John Beaty and Jane his widow was married in the House of Emanuel Gunvalus father to this deponent; something near to Twenty five years since; and further saith not.” John McConnell, a witness, was “well acquainted with John Beatty..” (10 pages) Beaty, Joseph # S10369, Orange County, New York; Power of Attorney from Joseph Beaty (signed, his mark) to Charles Johnston dated March 8, 1841. On March 8, 1841 Joseph states that he “now resides in the town of New Windsor county and State aforesaid and has resided there for the space of Eighty six years last part and that previous thereto he resided in no other place.” (2 pages) Beaty, Samuel #S34646, Cecil County, Maryland; Samuel Beaty appoints Samuel Nesbite his attorney on September 29, 1832. He signs his name “Samuel Beaty.” “He served in Captain Watson’s company of foot in the 2nd Pennsylvania Regiment that he now resides in Cecil County and has resided there for the space of upwards of 40 years and previous thereto he resided in Pennsylvania.” (4 pages) Beaty, Walter; widow Mary (Polly) #W5804, Hawkins County, Tennessee; “Walter Beatty a Revolutionary Pensioner of the United States on the roll of the East Tennessee agency of Knoxville departed this life in Hawkins county aforesaid on the third day of July 1834 leaving Polly Beatty his widow and Relic…that he did reside in Hawkins County at his death and had resided there for the space of 31 years past; and that previous thereto, he resided in Montgomery County, Virginia (dated Dec. 22, 1834). Signed by Polly Beatty widow and relic of Walter Beatty dec’d (her mark) Aaw Baty (his mark) is a witness on a Power of Attorney for Polly Beatty. (4 pages) Beaty, William, # S10357; Scott County, Kentucky; “…he now (March 6, 1841) resides in Scott County Kentucky and has resided there for the space of forty years past; and that previous thereto he resided in Loudon County, Virginia.” William signs his name “William Beaty” (3 pages) I think there are three more that I haven't tried to find: Reading Beatty and two more James Beatys from PA (I put in an application for these but got back the one I had already requested).
