    3. Willie, I don't know who this Beatty was but there are a few references to the place on the net. It seems to be a popular hiking destination: Nice photos of the area where his cabin once stood: http://users.sisna.com/holokin/Photos/BeattysCabinPhotos/ http://slate.msn.com/id/2088073/ - refers to him as: "...eccentric 19th-century prospector. I was fishing in the upper Pecos River area and ran across it. It is entitled "Beatty's Cabin." written by Elliott S. Barker and published Calvin Horn Publishers in 1953. Barker was a U. S. Forester, and writes the book about the Upper Pecos Wilderness Area. Beatty's Cabin was the cabin of George Beatty from the 1870's 1880's. He met Mr. Beatty on a few occasions when he was a boy growing up in Northern New Mexico. My question: Does anybody know who this George Beatty was? His lineage? By the way, the book I bought was a 1985 reprinted edition, done by Bishop Printing and Litho, Portales, New Mexico.
