Gr.-gr.-granddaughter of Joel Fithian and Elizabeth Beatty, his wife. Joel Fithian, (1748-1821), served as sheriff, 1776-78, and was a member of the Legislature, 1779. He raised a company of militia which served in the defense of the state. He was born in Greenwich; died in Roadstown, N. He was not exchanged until, 1778, when he was made commissary general of prisoners with the rank of colonel. He was born in Bucks Co., Penna.; died in Trenton, N.
