Granddaughter of David Reid and Mary Ramsey (b. 1791), his wife. Gr.-granddaughter of Thomas M. D. Reid and Mary McKay, his wife; John Ramsey and Elizabeth Birdsong, his wife, m. 1790. John Ramsey was drafted from Iredell county, North Carolina, and served at Ramsour's Mill, 1780 under Gen. William Davidson, where he was shot in the knee. He died in 1807. His widow in 1844 at the age of eighty-seven, was allowed a pension in Monroe county, Tenn., for six months actual service as private, North Carolina line.
