    3. David Beattie, Company "E" 12th U. S. Infantry; father Edward Beattie (application # 202,893) -enlisted Iowa On 26th March, 1872 in Floyd County, Iowa, Edward Beattie, aged 71, filed an "Original Pension of a Father." He states that he was the father of David Beattie who enlisted at Charles City, Floyd County, Iowa in March of 1862 as a Private in Company "E" of the 12th Regiment of U. S. Volunteers and who died at Salisbury, North Carolina (while a Prisoner of War) on March 15, 1865. Edward's wife, mother of David, "died at aged 38 years at Westminster County, Canada West on 13th August 1845." Edward was married "to the mother of said son" at Ancaster, Walton County, Canada on or about Feb. 16, 1830. David had no brothers and sisters under the age of 16 surviving at the time of his death. There is a certified copy of the marriage of Mary Ann Garum (??) and Edward Beatty both of Ancaster Township. Anna Templeton and Anson Raymond were witnesses to the marriage. David Beattie was found to be in Company "C" of the 2nd Battalion, 12th regiment of U. S. Infantry. This claim was abandoned. Laurel Baty, L252
