    3. Noticed this while working on a file. This is a good reason why it is a good idea to do the research after you have found your ancestor in DAR. Note James' widow Catherine when applying for her pension for his Revolutionary service sent in a Bible leaf with her children and birth dates. Their son James was born in 1803 and could not have a son Caleb born in 1800 (L-232). >From the pension file of James Beaty: Correct copy of the names and date of the birth of the children of James and Catharine Beatty filed with the application of Catharine Beatty for a pension - See case File No.5802- Revolutionary roll. Eli Beatty born July 31, 1793; Jeane Beatty born April 25, 1797; Reachel Beatty born Dec'r 3, 1800; William Beatty born Sept. 24, 1801; James Beatty born Decem. 17, 1803 (written next to William and James Beatty's names is: There eraseres on the leaf) The above family record was made on a large Bible leaf and affidavits identified the record as in the hand writing of James Beatty the soldier & husband of Catharine the applicant. The widow having died the pension certificate was payable under act of Feby 2, 1848 to her surviving children Jane, William, & Jane (note: must be James) The above mentioned Bible leaf was returned Feby 28, 1887 to W.J. Steen of Pittsburg Pa at his request in behalf Mrs. Steen who was a grand daughter of James Beatty, through Hon. James Nagley & desk of Depy Comes. J.J. Bartlett. DAR ID Number: 41728 Born in Chester, Pennsylvania. Wife of James G. Longfellow. Descendant of Corp. James Beatty, of Pennsylvania. Daughter of John E. Beatty and Jane Wood, his wife. Granddaughter of Caleb Beatty born 1800 and Phebe Pyle, his wife. Gr.-granddaughter of James Beatty, Jr., and Margaret Pennell, his wife. Gr.-gr.-granddaughter of James Beatty and Catherine รข?", (1768-1849), his wife, m. 1792. James Beatty, (1753-1827), enlisted in Bedford County for three years as corporal in the 11th Penna. regiment. His widow received a pension. He died in Cumberland County, Pa. Donna L-3
