    3. Usually when power of attorney is given in the early deeds it is a brother or brother-in-law or close very trusted relative I have found in the deeds. It is sooooo seldom an attorney. Normally brother John moves to IA and the deed will read John Beatty of IA giviing P/A to Robert Beatty back in the state where their father has just died. Sometimes it is frustrating cuz they may have land in 3 counties and the P/A deed is in a fourth county so when you see the deed when a Beatty is acting as an attorney for another Beatty you can bet they are very closely connected. P/A are some of the most interesting deeds and the ones in the index with etal/and all are often interesting and the female deeds are more often family deeds with genealogy. I would look for a family connection to this Sarah Smith Stafford... --- Laurel Baty <laurelbaty@comcast.net> wrote: > The Lady who wrote the letter, Sarah Smith > Stafford, was Ann Beatty's > attorney.
