    2. Although this grant is recorded as one for William BEALY, I believe it is actually for L-2's William BEATY. It adjoins John Cooper's 1784 land grant which adjoined William Beaty's land. Nel L-2 William Bealy [Beaty?] NC Land Grant 17th Nov 1797 Sullivan Co. TN Deed Book 3, Page 155 State of North Carolina No. 740 To all to whom these presents shall come greeting know ye that we for & in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our treasury by William Bealy have given & granted & by these presents do give & grant unto the said William Bealy a tract of land containing two hundred and fifty acres lying & being in the County of Sullivan on the north side of Holston River & on Beaver Creek beginning at a poplar white walnut on the bank of said creek thence with this ??? courses of the same south 42 degrees east 140 poles to two Spanish oaks and a white oak a corner of John Coopers then south 5 degrees west 51 poles to a hickory ??? & sugar tree thence south 40 degrees west 40 poles to a white oak & hickory Lynn and Sugar tree thence south 70 degrees 80 poles to a sugar tree and maple thence south 35 degrees west 60 poles to a hickory thence west 66 poles to a sugar tree & Buckeye thence across B. Creek north 42 degrees west 102 poles along William Rhea line to a for??? white oak a corner of said Rheas thence along the same course 6 poles to a stake thence a straight line to the beginning entered the 7th day of October 1797 as be the plat hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and appurtenances to the said land belonging or appertaining to hold to the said William Bealy his heirs & assigns forever yielding & paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our general assembly from time to time may direct provided always that the said William Bealy shall cause this grant to be registered in the Registers office of our said county of Sullivan within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be void & of no effect in testimony whereof we have caused these our letters to be made patent & our great Seal to be hereunto affixed witness Samuel Ashe Esquire our governor captain general & Commander in Chief at Raleigh the 17th day of November in 22th year of our independence & in the year of our Lord 1797.
