Donna L-3 November 24, 1905 The Courier (Connellsville, Fayette co., PA) ANDREW BEATTY DEAD For 20 Years He Was Mine Foreman at Morrell Andrew Beatty, for 20 years mine boss at the old Morrell works, died this morning at his home at Logan's Crossing, near Leisenring, aged 65 years. Mr. Beatty was born in Wales and came to the United States 40 years ago. He worked in the mines of Maryland and then came to the Coke region. After Morrell was worked out and the works were abandoned he moved to Valley Mines, where two years ago he received a bad fall. His side was injured by the fall and he was compelled to give up work. From the injury a bad sore developed. Two weeks ago this sore healed over, but it affected him internally and this was the cause of his death. He was a member of Fayette Lodge, Knights of Pythias, and this order will have charge of the funeral. Besides his wife he is survived by the following children: Roger, Mt. Pleasant; Robert, Adelaide; Neal, Little Washington; John, Australia; William and Charles, Masontown; Mrs. Jean Sheppler, Pittsburg; Mrs. Frank Rossell, Leisenring No, 3; and Miss Anna Beatty at home. I don't think the Andrew Beattie of Donna's post can be the son of James Forbes Beattie--I found a death certificate for Andrew Beattie, aged 17, died Nov. 26, 1861, Old Machar, Aberdeenshire; father James Forbes Beattie, mother Jane Byres Beattie (maiden surname Copland), died of abscess of eye. Andrew is not mentioned in the will of James Forbes Beattie--I will post James Forbes Beattie's will and that of his father, Peter Beattie--this is a nice Scottish lineage. Oh well it was worth a try. Just goes to show what has been proved to me many times over the years. The initial obvious choice for an ancestor is very often wrong. Going back and reading the census for James's family. Several of the children were born in Syndney, New South Wales does this not sound like Australia not Wales as a birthplace??!!
