Beatty, which occurred on Friday, closed the earthly experiences of one whose lifw was closely associated with the early settlement and building up of this place. Mrs. Beatty was born at St. Petersport, in the Island of Guernsey, April 14, 1805, and when about a year old came to this country with her father, Thomas Sarchet. The family settled here in a rude structure and lived in that manner until Mr. Sarchet erected a log house on the ground at the corner of Main and Pine streets, where the building occupied by Boyd & McKinney's store now stands. In 1821 she married John P. Beatty, son of Col. John Beatty, one of the original proprietors of the town. Commencing with the first settlement here she witnessed all the changes that have taken place up to the present. Mrs. Beatty united with the Methodist Protestant church soon after its organization in 1830, and remained one of its faithful members till her death. Of a family of eight daughters and one son, six daughters survive her. The funeral took place from the Methodist Protestant church on Sunday, Rev. Scott, assisted by Dr. McFarland and Rev. Darrow conducting the services. Her remains were followed to the cemetery by a very large concourse of people. 1840 Guernsey Co., OH-Cambridge Twp. pg. 364 Beatty, JOHN P. 1 m 10-15 1 m 30-40 2 f und 5 2 f 5-10 1 f 10-15 1 f 30-40 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 1850 GUERNSEY COUNTY, OH Cambridge twp. pg. 265 1767-1755 John P.
