John S. Beatty to George Beatty Fayette County Deed Book 8, Page 379 Know all men by these presents that I John S. Beatty of the township of Nicholson in the County of Fayette and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania being one of the sons and heirs at law of Thomas Beatty, Esqr., late of old Springhill Township (deceased) seized and possessed of a tract of land lying and now being in Nicholson Township aforesaid containing Two hundred and fifty acres be the same more or less known by the name of Thomas Beattys homestead farm-which said farm was valued and appraised by twelve good and lawful men of the aforesaid County of Fayette and accommodate two of the heirs namely William & George Beatty now for & in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to John S. Beatty in hand paid by the said George Beatty, he the said John S. Beatty agrees to forever acquit the said George from any further liability whatever. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this third day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight. John S.
