    3. I realized that I had confused 2 different Matthew Beatties in Renfrew, Scotland in my last message--both have fathers named John and mothers named Mary. Here is a modified Census, with marriage and death. I believe the Matthew Beattie that died in 1916 in Port-Glasgow, Renfrew Scotland could be the brother of Edmund Beattie of L438 (based on the fact that they were both born in Ireland and living at the same address in the 1881 Census. L438 Edmond Beattie's marriage record states his father's name was John Betty and his mother was Mary Nicholson): Matthew Beattie's marriage record shows he married Elizabeth McVane on February 20, 1880 in Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland. His father's name was John Beattie and his mother was Mary Nichol.
