It's been about 4 years since I last posted to this list. I am still searching for Hugh Beatty. (L-58) HUGH CEPHAS BEATTY was born April 25, 1854, thought to be Butler Co. He went west in 1879 with the Thomas M. GILL family (wife Savilla) and was listed as a nephew in the 1880 census for Osage Co., KS. Clayton Beatty, last living grandson of HUGH, remembers him saying that his parents were killed and the children were farmed out to other family members. Clayton told me that Hugh often wondered what happened to his brothers and sisters. Last week I started going through every single GILL family I could find in 1870 census for Slippery Rock, Butler Co., and I found HUGH as a 16 year old, living with HIRAM GILL, brother to Thomas M. GILL. I could find no Hiram GILL in the 1860 census, but did find Hiram as a 6 yr old in the 1850 census for Slippery Rock. Nowhere could I find HUGH BEATTY. Where is he for 1860 census and with what family? Interestingly, I found in the 1860 census for Slipperyrock, PA, a HUSEPHIS BETTY, age 6. (Born 1854) I think this is my Hugh Beatty. 1870 Slippery Rock., Butler Co.PA a.. House #103 b.. GILL, David 70 c.. Martha 63 (her maiden name was McKee) d.. Martha E. 23 e.. Martha J. 9 f..
