    1. Re: [BP2000] Question about Ships
    2. Nelda, I had thought that the immigration records on Ancestry required the deluxe membership (I have the basic membership). But, I just went there and apparently not. Anyway, I clicked on Immigration Records and then put in Consbrook in the Name of Ship block on the search page and got New Orleans passenger lists (1820-1945) for 5 trips of the Consbrook to New Orleans. What is peculiar is that there were a total of 71 passengers listed for those 5 trips. Perhaps they made other stops along the Atlantic coast and dropped off passengers. But, I think my question was answered by this exercise. The five trips were: 16 Jan 1828 3 Jan 1832 13 Dec 1832 13 Feb 1835 18 Feb 1837 Two trips made in 1832. The write up on Ancestry says, "A ship could make several voyages throughout the year, making several stops along way." The 'stops' refers to points of departure. Their example was a ship that might originate in Germany, make a stop in Liverpool, England, before heading to America. The port of departure would be listed as Liverpool even though a German immigrant might be on board. This example was just a heads-up to people searching for a German immigrant ancestor. So, I guess a ship could, and did, make more than one trip per year. My apologies to Karl. I wanna be like him!!!!!! Les L-20
