Beaty, 79* of Huntington died at 7:15 PM on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was a lifelong Huntington County farmer, businessman and real estate broker. Mr. Beaty was a 1946 graduate of Lancaster Township High School. In 1950 he graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in agriculture. While a student at Purdue, he was a member of the ROTC, commissioned and served for seven years retiring as a 1^st Lieutenant. Upon graduation he became manager of the family farm corporation, Golden Grange Farms, which included over 250 Guernsey dairy cattle (at the time one of Indiana's largest herds) and over 1400 acres of farmland. He continued management of the farm land throughout his life. In 1964, he was named president and general manager of the family-owned Beauty Guard Manufacturing Company, Incorporated. In 1970 he joined his brother, Dick, in partnership of Century 21 The Beaty Company Realtors where he served as co-owner, and sales manager. Mr. Beaty was a licensed real estate broker, long-term member of the Huntington County Board of Realtors, and served as the board's president in 1984 & 1985. Mr. Beaty was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. He was an active member of the Purdue University Alumni "Nifty Fifty Gang." Additional civic and professional memberships include: the Huntington Elks Club, the Optimist Club of Huntington, former member of the board of directors for Pathfinder Services, life member of the Huntington County Humane society and a proud supporter of the Sheets Wildlife Museum. He was born on January 26, 1928 in Huntington, a son of Everett R. and Flossie A. (Huffman) Beaty, and was united in marriage to Monet L. Coble on December 12, 1958. She preceded him in death on October 9, 1964. His second marriage was to Patricia L. (Meese) Miller on October 12, 1972. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2007. Survivors include two sons: Kirk Beaty of Goldens Bridge, NY and Kent Beaty of New York, NY; two daughters: Cristina McNutt of Mentor, OH and Lori Riecke of Huntington; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. His brother, Richard E. Beaty, preceded him in death on November 5, 2002. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2007 from 4:00 -- 6:00 PM and also on Friday, May 4, 2007 from 6:00 -- 8:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel with Dr. Ray A. Seilhamer and Rev. Brooks L. Fetters officiating. Interment will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in southern Huntington County.
