I am Thomas Elliott Batey of the Beatty Line 64. My great,great grandfather was Capt. William Batey(Betty). My inquiry relates to the possible relationship between my ancestor William Batey and the Rev. John Betty. The Rev. John was the first Episcopal priest appointed to Brunswick County Va.in 1733. He never married and thus has no descendents. However,he had brother named William who was in Brunswick County around 1740. William had three children,William, Thomas and Mary.The Rev. John died in 1740 and mentions William's children in his will. Records in Brunswick County indicate that William came there from Pennsylvania. My search of records thus far has not been able to determine whether the exists a relationship between the William Betty,brother of the Rev.John and my ancestor. Iwill greatly appreciate and information that will shed light on this matter. Thank you.
