    3. Dear Laurel, Thank you very much for your response to my inquiry. Your reference to William Ferrington is very interesting. It so happens that he was a brother to Capt. William Batey's first wife, Mary Betty and they were also cousins. In fact, our two lines have had contact in recent years. Andy Batey, who lives near San Antonio has visited our family reunion which occurs in Middle Tennessee each August. For whatever reason, the two families changed the spelling of their name when they moved to Tennessee in 1808. Our lines are accurate from Capt. William forward but are somewhat confused going backward. The Line 64 as published in BP2000 raises a number of questions regarding the name spelling changing from Batte to Betty and then to Batey. Although this is certainly possible, my record search in Brunswick did not indicate this. I am hoping that someone will have a family connection to William Betty, brother to rev. John, that will clarify his descendants and the possible connection to Line 64. Thank you again for your help. Thomas Elliott Batey
