I'm looking at L-64 and am a little confused regarding the wives of William (Capt.) Batey, b. 1760. It shows his wife as Anne Bass, m. 1798. Then, below, it shows his 2nd wife as Mary Betty, m. 1787. If those dates are correct, isn't his 2nd wife really his first wife and his first wife really his second wife? Les Beaty, L-20

Family Tree Maker orders them that way even though, as you noted, the dates prove the opposite. Mary Betty is tagged as the "preferred spouse" in FTM.
