Donna, thanks for the additional info; you and Joann are way ahead of me in terms of research on L-10 so I'm no doubt barking up the wrong tree. The Pulaski Co. census you included below is indeed the one I was looking at. If John R. Beaty of Pulaski was John "Rittenhouse" Beaty he wasn't part of L-4 for sure. :) On the other hand I double checked the digital image of John R. Beatie's Pulaski Co. will and it was definitely written and probated in 1858 (19 Jan. 1858/18 Mar 1858), not 1855. I looked at L-10 again and see that Martin is listed with 2 wives. I was not aware of the first one and hence did not consider Martin as a candidate for John R. Beatie's father. There were no young children in Martin's 1820 HH but if he was a recent widower they certainly could have been with a relative. His 1830 household "does" suggest the presence of a young male who was too old to have been the child of Elizabeth. Also, the 3 men who witnessed John R. Beaty's will (Abel Debord, Daniel Wilson and G.W. (or M) Parker) do not have any association that I know of with L-4. So all in all, looks like I should set this aside (unless of course the John who was the son of Martin really died in 1855). If either of you uncovers any more info please keep me in mind. I'm still bothered by the fact that there was clearly a male born 1810-1814 in L-4 John's HH in 1820 and 1830.
