I received the following query -can anyone help? - Laurel Baty, L252 I'm wondering if you have any information concerning slaves of the Baty/ Batey/Beaty clan, in particular, a mulatto named Peter? Peter was my great-grandfather, born about 1845 near Augusta, GA. He married Laura, and they settled in Webster Parish, Louisiana. His father was a successful drayman born about 1805 and was also I believe, named Peter. This Peter's wives were named Lyddy, then Martha. If you could suggest the name of his father based on records that you may have, I would be grateful. If not, thank you anyway for taking the time to respond to my inquiry. I am familiar with BP2000 and would appreciate it if you would post my query on the webpage and mailing list. I have been trying to connect the dots of my ancestry for well over 12 years now, but as you may know, records are extremely difficult to obtain and more often than not, non-existent for African Americans. I did however, submit a DNA sample taken from my brother to Family Tree DNA. The closest match was Beaty.
