    3. Hi List, Have any of you ever commissioned a Preliminary Report from this organization? Do you know if they are a reputable organization? I am considering commissioning a Preliminary Report on my Fentress Co., TN early Beaty ancestors: 1752 James (Rev. War) and twin Phoebe, 1761 Andrew (Rev. War), and 1780 John. Gerri

    3. While the organization is reputable and led by very good people, it contracts with genealogists to do their commercial research. I had them do a report for me two years ago and was very disappointed by both the price and the amount of research I got (very meager for the amount I paid). I later contracted with a couple of different researchers through the PRONI (Public Record Office of Northern Ireland) website and was pleased with the quality of the research. I got a lot more for the money, and it was abstracted quite well. My advice is to go with a private researcher. See the link below. 3. Hi Gerry, I have also used the Ulster Historical Foundation for research and they are a reputable company. However, I agree with John's comments! I would also add that it is quite unlikely that you will find any information in Ireland based on what I know of lineage 2. You should do more research in Pennsylvania before venturing to Ireland. You money would be better spent hiring an American certified genealogist who specializes in Pennsylvania records to find information about your Beatys in Chester County. Perhaps there is some clue in early Chester County records about the Irish origin of your Beatys. There are many Beattys in Ireland in the 1700s. Distinguishing your Beaty family from others in the area would be extremely difficult. All of the lineage 2 people that you mention were likely born in Pennsylvania. You have no idea where the family comes from in Ireland so it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. The best bet you have of finding a place of origin in Ireland is probably through DNA. Unfortunately, we don't have much participation in our DNA project from Irish Beattys. John Beatty of L24 knew the townland of origin for his Beattys before he began his Irish research. I think the Ulster Historical Foundation would take your money and tell you the research was impossible without knowing at least a county of origin in Ireland.
